How is this possibile?

Their system is suppose to spit out the best team in CFB, it tells us that team is Alabama, clear cut with no if's and's or but's and on a neutral site this same team is an 10 point dog this week. WHAT?

Alabama has went undefeated so they "earned" it most would say but this sures makes the Utah would get crushed argument not stand up, when using the pointspread as a measuring stick (which everybody knows is the best indicator of who the best team is as it is basically teams voted on thru money on how strong teams are).

How do you draw the line? You are saying that Alabama is good enough because they havent lost a game but Utah, Ball St, etc dont get that same oppurtunity. Everyone is saying that Alabama would lose by double digits in a game versus Florida but now this week, Alabama can "prove" this wrong but teams like Utah and the others dont get a chance to prove it becasue we have already assumed they would get whipped.

In fact if this was a Big Ten team they wouldnt have to play this type of conference championship game this week and they would already be in the championship game and god knows how huge of a dog they would be going into that game and we as fans would have been "stuck" with that crap scenairo again but fortunatley that was avoided this year.

The pointspread tells us flat out who the better team is, we all know that. Oh wait that is crap you are saying, that isnt always true, that sometimes the better team is the dog and that is proven every week in sports. That you cant let people decide who the better team is and that you play the game on the field and then see who the best team is. EXACTLY and this is why you cant vote who the 2 best teams are as you cant get it right.

A playoff guarantess the 2 best teams would play each other in the final game to determine the championship because they would prove that by winning the game on the field.

Because the BCS rewards a team for their S-E-A-S-O-N, not just the last 4-5 games.

I have an idea, why don't we just not play a season and start the season with a 119 or 120 team playoff?

Perhaps this would satisfy Kermit and yourself.

Under the current system, the two best teams during the regular season will meet 98.5 out of 100 times in a CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

Other sports don't come close to that.

I can guarantee one thing, if it were Ohio Stae, Michigan, and Iowa instead of Oaklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech, Fishhead's response would be different...

College playoffs are happening all around us and it is about time that Division 1 steps up and implements a good plan...and fuk rewarding a team that is .500 for the season...college football would be really exciting with a playoff system and the bowl games can be used as part of that system...

but who else can be number one?....fla would be favored over texas or okla too........throughout history the number 3 or 4 team would and have been favored over the #1 team........playoffs or bowls or bcs'......what if you have a playoff........get jobbed by officials turnovers roll up 525 yards of offense to your ooponents 260 and lose 31-30 and then they go championship game and lose 55-0 to the team you had a chance to beat?.........it all what ifs.......why make it a clear cut national champion?......there is enough pressure on programs and kids anyways.........and it gives us stuff to talk about so win win:toast:

Saying a playoff guarentees the 2 best teams will meet is ridiculous. Upsets happen all the time. Beating a team 1 time doesnt prove you are better then them. An obvious example is Texas vs Texas Tech this year. Is Texas Tech a better team because of a last second miracle play? No. Were the Giants the best team in the NFL last year because of 1 miracle play? No.

I want playoffs for excitement purposes, but IMO playoffs are not as strong as the BCS in determining the best team for a given year.

That is my point if that is the case then reward the U-N-B-E-A-T-E-N-S. You cant have it both ways. Your logic is flawed. Reward the best seasons then and give it too an undefeated.

I would love to hear your stance if Ohio St was in this game.

I would seriously rather have a 120 team playoff, at least that way we would find out who the best team was at the end. Cause this way isnt working if it was the Bama wouldnt be a 10 point dog.

How can a system say its Alabama hands down but they are a double digit dog? Because they arent one of the 2 best teams that is why but because they havent lost they get in and others dont get that rule applied to them. Sounds fair?

playoffs at least gives you a chance to win the National Championship....of course there would be conditions in the playoff system on which teams would participate...and I say that you have to win your conference to get in or else the regular season wouldn't mean squat...

So if Alabam wins this week they arent better then Florida because this would be a big upset?

Where do you draw the line? You dont have to worry about it you just play the game, peorid.

The Ny Giants example is no good because if anything last years playoffs proves exactly why they deserved it. By the end of last season they were the best team in the NFL and they proved it was no fluke by going out this year and proving it as they are hands down the best team right now. In a flawed BCS they wouldnt even played in the championship game but the NFL playoffs got it right as and this season helps prove that right now, they were and up an coming team who peaked at the right time and were the best team in football at the end of the year.

It is fairly simple in my opinion. Alabama deserves the #1 ranking because they are undefeated. No other BCS team is, so they should be ranked #1. There would still be 5 or 6 teams favored over them though on a neutral field, and Florida and USC are the two that would be by double digits.

If you want to go by oddsmakers, the best teams in the nation are USC and Florida. They would both be favored over any other team in the nation no questions asked. That doesn't mean either deserved to be ranked ahead of undefeated Alabama, it just means they're better teams.

So why even have bowl games? the season is over after next week is what it sounds like your saying. So, there is no need for bowl games if a champ is just be crownd by opinion poll's anywaysaccording to your season reference. This is why playoff's are CONSIDERED part of A SEASON. And it end's w 1 true champ in EVERY SPORT EXCEPT college fb.

Fish - since you feel the whole season is the playoff, how do you explain Texas beating OU and OU jumping them?

The only way we'll get a playoff barring congressional influence is if people stop watching the BCS games.
