If someone says they bet strictly on information, what would you say that means?

I asked a fellow gambler here in Vegas who I respect greatly, how he goes about making his selections each day when betting sports and he answered me by saying "my betting is strictly information. I do no handicapping myself".

Keep in mind this player like most isnt betting one game a night/week or anything like that. So I dont think he is waiting for that one game where he has great information and clobbers it. He is betting dozens and dozens of games a night/week.

I am not really sure what he means when he says this. What would you say he meant (probably leave me the f--- alone you idiot, LOL).

I have an idea but I am going to wait and see how a few here answer this.

This is the #1 thing that intrigues me as a bettor since I moved to Vegas is how/why do professional's bet the things they do everyday. I mean if they are "making a living" at this game then how do they get their edge to beat this very difficult game. There is no one perfect answer to how people win, I know that. There are many ways to beat gambling and people use extremely different methods to get there.

my guess is it has to do with line movement and which way the money/bets are rolling.

or a lucky quarter

Do you feel he is saying he betting off the screen moves or he actually has people he gets ahold of and talks personally too?

#1.

I thought it could be #2 but when you said he bets dozens of plays a day, I just figured #2 would be unlikely.

Why dont you just ask him?

i would think he meant he is part of a syndicate, and either gets the information from the handicapping/numbers guy in his group, or else someone in his group gets picks from a major syndicate, and some of the plays trickle down to him.

If he is betting dozens of games per night/week, he is likely betting off the screen by interpreting live moves from false moves. True handicappers who bet off information, wait for specific conditions to be in place and only wager when the information is confirmed and they often have sources who provide that information to them. They generally try to stay with these types of bets only so they have very few plays per week, if at all.

Thanks for all the repsones. Makes sense.

I assumed he talks to some bigger players and makes his plays off there stuff (maybe as part of syndicate I guess).

Which leads me to my next question, LOL. You didnt think I would stop with just one did you. To be posted in a whole new thread.
