Offer him 300 & settle on 350.

He probably paid $1200-1500, but it's 3 yrs old, so this price isn't far off.

Agree with SS. Go to Best Buy and you'll find great TV's in your price range. You don't want a used "HD Ready" TV. You can buy a new HDTV with 0% interest for 2 years. Just buy it and make 24 equal monthly payments. Use their money while staying within your monthly budget.

Check out http://www.uecweb.com - The LCD rear-projection sets will get you better value I'd think. Not plasma or LCD, but the quality/price ratio is hard to beat.

Also, quality 42" panasonic plasmas can be had for ~$700 now if you're watching the deals at slickdeals/fatwallet.

Agree with SS, I sold a similar but much smaller model (32") 9 months ago for $100. Was glad to be rid of the beast. Decent picture, but Heavy and didn't compare to the recent models. Get something new in a small LCD, it's worth a couple hundred extra.

Take the mf'er out to dinner at the Olive Garden to butter him up. Then buy him one of the desserts off of the big boy menu and start negotiating.

maybe even go with a $100 offer on this one, if you want used.

Jake, may not want to spend much money on a TV, or take on debt, being a college student.

Hell, I'd look under the free category of CL, or just tell the guy $100 is all I can do. This will be hard to sell.

He wants $400, I want to counter-offer lower but don't know crap about TV prices.

Here is the ad:

http://boise.craigslist.org/ele/941382250.html

........................................................................................................

TV is in excellent condition, the stand has a few scuff's, just shy of 3yrs old model#KP46WT520. Todd 447-6316

......................................................................................................

The stand looks like a couple of cinder blocks, the TV looks big and clunky.

Approach it this way, Jake:

Where could you sell it ?

Would the Boise three-baller even give you anything for it ?

I wouldn't take it for free from my next door neighbor. Too big for anywhere but my living room, already have a big plasma there. I couldn't CL it, wife would bitch like HELL about people coming to look at it, even w/o the wife SHIT, I'd have to price it at like $200, and agree to deliver it in my truck.

It would almost be hard to give away, and I don't think the pawnshop would even want it.

$100 is about right, IMO.

I just bought a 52" rear projection tv for $200 from some rube in North Carolina. The dude paid $1200 for it just 15 years ago. I practically stole it off of him. The damn thing was heavy as shit though....had to take a buddy to help as the lazy bastard I bought it from wouldn't help at all.

Hope this helps.

Agree ... $100.00 if you intend to you it as a 3rd or 4th TV.

Way better deals available at Best Buy.

I wasn't aware of that Mikey...this fellow had squinty eyes and a very colorful stocking hat, so I'm sure if buster is from NC also that would just be a coincidence.

Have you ever seen Buster and the man you bought the TV from in the same room at the same time?

If not, then I think they are 1 in the same.
