I can't stand idiots in high places who get a chance to speak on national tv & spew such bullshit. The fact that the Big 12 Commissioner could stand there with a straight face & use the argument of a playoff ruining the regular season. Yeah, 10 years down the line we as fans & players will wonder how could they destroy our regular season! I mean how could we sit here & care to play all season with a potential playoff birth at stake. Idiot!

The biggest crock of shit had to be the argument that most players prefer the bowl system. The only players who would probably say that are those on teams outside of the 6 contracted BCS conferences who have no shot at reaching the title game regardless if they went 20-0.

Fuck you Beebe

Believe it or not I would tend to agree that the players enjoy the bowl system. Obviously players that were on teams that got screwed by the BCS and ended #3 would want a playoff, but I think a lot love the bowls. I've only attended one ncaa game and talked to a few players about which they would prefer (no big name players, so that might have been a reason for their answer) and all three said they liked the bowls for the experience. Bowls are a lot of fun for these guys and the fans. More often than not the two most deserving end up in the title game anyways, although they might not be the two best (ex; this year. USC is the best imo, but I would say UF and OU are more deserving with their resumes).

Real players want to win titles on the field by beating the best. A playoff is a better indicator than this stupid system.

USC is the best team in the country & watch out if Sark is gone as he is a complete idiot.

I also think some would say that because they know that only a handful of teams realistically have a shot. If you told someone that we could have a 16 team playoff with guaranteed slots for every conference winner, the majority who prefer bowls would change their mind. It is all in perception in such a case. I am not saying to scrap the entire bowl system but use the lesser ones for non playoff teams & let the playoffs sort out a real winner.

I think that's the key; combining the two. There are fans and players that love the bowl games, and it's great for lesser schools that don't really have title hopes ever and for them it's an exciting year to be able to play a bowl game, but to have a small playoff would be great for teams like USC, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Ohio St etc. Teams that are always there in the end but always have to wait it out the last few weeks to see if they're in the top two or not and a lot of the time teams get unfairly punished because of their conference (Pac 10 was pretty bad this year, but USC is still the best regardless- PAC 10 also isn't as bad as people make it seem. Cali, Oregon and even Oregon St are pretty good teams. Ore St got MUCH better as the season went on and Oregon and Cali always had talent- UW and Wazzou really killed them though).

Actually, many players can't stand the Bowls. Extra 15 practices. Some guys care.

I remember when USC played TCU in the Sun Bowl under Paul Hackett, one of the players I knew on the team was telling me that guys didn't even want to be there and were making plans for New Year's eve as the game was played at 1:30 EST, I believe and they were getting back to LA at around 8 or 9.

Players care at Sun Belt, WAC, MAC programs and even that is debateable.

I remember when Miami played in Boise, some guys wanted to see snow and after 10 minutes, they were like let's get the fuck out of here.

OU and FLA would wipe their ass with USC this year....

OU and FLA are the TWO clear cut best teams in the nation this year and its not even close (and i dont give a f-ck if OU lost to UT bc they would beat them 7.5of10 times)

enjoy it bc we have the best 2 squaring off for the title...

Yeah, USC really proved that today against a UCLA team Oklahoma would've beat by 7 TDs

the point is we will never see what would have happened if USC played UF or OU.

also your point about UT losing 7.5 times out of 10 is unfounded, retarded and ridiculous.

I would love to see USC defense against Florida's or OU offense. We saw how things worked out with another major offense for OU last time against SC.

It allows for games during the reg season to become big fantastic game, and fans dont have to wait all the way till the end of the season to have the big game

It is like a 12 game playoff. If you lose after week 6 you are done. That is what makes college football a marathon and not a 2 or 3 weekend playoff. It is here to stay due to it only screwing someone 2 times a decade and the money that is made from all the bowls top to bottom it is not going anywhere.

USC Is Very Overrated IMO

They played 1 tm w/a very good O, and lost. Fl, OU, Tx, and maybe TT & Ok St, would roll up some pts on them. And how the hell do we know that they're this "great D" that everyone raves about? Who the hell have they played w/a great O? They're where they belong playing PSU. IF they played the Tide or Horns they'd get their ass kicked. :missingte
