For smoother movement. I've tried taking the bottom peace off and using 3m DustRemover and cleaning the little steel ball. I've also bought a new mouse pad..but it still moves on certain places with difficulty.Any advice. Do they just wear out? Computer a little over 2 years old.

When you take the ball out, take a toothpick or something (q-tip w/cleaner) and clean around where the ball sits inside the mouse. Dirt and dust ususally builds up on both sides. Should come right out and make movement easier.

Jack is right. An optic mouse would solve the problem, they don't need the cleaning because they don't have a ball.

Oh my God, you guys are still using mouse's with balls in them:nohead:

Funniest thing i have heard in awhile. You need to take a trip to a computer store and take a look at all the new things they have got.

1. Do mousepads REALLY make any difference as long as the surface is smooth? (I tried cleaning mouse and ball with a qtip stick )
2. On my previous computer I bought some type of newer mouse and couldn't get it hooked up to work , ended up putting the old one back in. Are they that difficult to install for someone that knows so little?

I have done a lot of cleaning with this thing and it works better , until getting to the bottom of the screen. Programs- won't move over to run a program.

Get an optic mouse. They don't have the little ball.

Just bought and hooked up an LX3 Optical Mouse. Feels like I have brand new computer! No downloading necessary. Just plug in. This ball mouse is going in the trash.

THANKS!
