Let's say you start following a guy who you think is knowledgeable. After a short while you find out he doesnt bet money on the games, lets say he hasnt made a bet in his entire lifetime. Does that change your opinion of him at all? Do you give his opinion less credit knowing this about him?

I know most will probably say. Do you think you can learn much gambling information off a guy who really is NEVER involved in the gambling game? Lots os people know sports that dont gamble but can the equate that knowledge to gambling?

One of the reasons I bring this up is I know a guy who is on a lot of the forums and he has a lot of the things to say about sports, numbers, capping, etc... He is fairly outspoken about most stuff. I am usually all ears when he speaks as I am always trying to learn things from others but when I found out he does not gamble, never really has bet in his life, then I have to admit I dont take what he says very seriously now. I am not sure that is right but it is the way I feel.

I woould respect a guy that can pick winners and not post plays...

versus lifetime fuckups like me....I can post winners but I end up betting 3x as many games (halvs, 2nd halves, late-night degenerate games) and losing my ass on a yearly basis!

If someone is knowledgeable, you should listen to them regardless of what they personally do with their knowledge.

Sometimes gamblers get caught up with the money, so gathering knowledge from someone who apparently understands gambling but doesn't actually place bets may in some cases be better than getting it from someone who does.

At the very least you should take what they say and consider it, maybe you should do more research on what they say to double check if you feel like they're spouting out falsehoods, but I wouldn't completely discount them just because they don't lay money down on the table.

i feel its valuable to get the opinions of people who dont gamble, they seem to have a different take on things than gamblers. our view can become skewed always thinking of pointspreads

I don't think I would fade someone if I thought they didn't put real money on a game.

yes-- if he in in the business of taking wagers not making them..

no if he really does not wager ever on his games...I would not care if he did not wager on every pick bu he has to show he is a player...

I might need to think on this

I think I know at least one forum guy that talks a ton about wagering on this game and that game and yet I also feel he hardly ever wagers on any game . he does not have funds. I think he likes to just stir the pot and get more action going for the forums and the sponsors. Seems like he is always on THE game the wrong way where there is this and that in the final 10 seconds...I dont buy it.

Exctly. What does it really matter whether he put's money on gms or not. If he is conducting well organized edecisions based on actual info that you find to be true should be the only thing that matter's. Isn't that why you call me ICE?
