I have been transferring my 2 excel files back and forth from my desktop to laptop for probably a year and a half with no problems. Then last week my main file would not open correctly on my desktop when transferred over. It was all just a bunch of weird symbols and such. It was still fine on the desktop though and my secondary file transferred correctly. Then just now my secondary file doesnt transfer correctly, it opened and had some info, but was missing most of the worksheets and negative #s were in a diff format. Thanks for any help.

I enjoy using Google Dogs for spread sheets, so you can log in and use it from whatever computer you are on,

I know it doesnt help you for this case, but something to look into for the future.

You can upload and spreadsheet there, and it is then hosted there.

Excel may be corrupted on the latter system. An uninstall and reinstall would likely solve that and doesn't hurt regardless.

That error message has happened to me when trying to open an Excel 2007 file (extension .xlsx) in Excel 2003 (extension .xls).
Are you using the same version on both computers?
Microsoft had a security update for Excel 2003 last week. That could be part of the problem if one computer has the update and the other doesn't.

And from this we can all safely conclude that either one or both of your computers is haunted by a demon.

Try saving the file on the computer with the newer excel in .xls instead of .xlsx
