I have a wide range of songs (1146 and counting) on my Zune and damn, I MUST be missing some top-flyte CLASSICAL songs here...

I did a quick scan and below is what I have (I realize a few are Opera and a couple others don't quite fit Classical), but I lump these genres together for the most part:

Bach, Johann Sebastian - Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, Air on a G String

Bach, Johann Sebastian - Toccata And Fugue In D Minor

Berlin Philharmonic - Lacrimosa

Bocelli, Andrea - Ave Maria

Bocelli, Andrea - Con Te Partirò

Bocelli, Andrea - Nessun Dorma

Brightman, Sarah - Don't Cry For Me Argentina

Callas, Maria - (Gianni Schicchi) O Mio Babbino Caro

Donaggio, Pino - The Shower (Theme from 'Dressed to Kill')

Hughes, Gary - Excalibur

Last, James - Andante From The Symphony No.5 In C Minor, Op.67

London Philharmonic Orchestra - Toreador Song (Carmen)

London Symphony Orchestra - Ode to Joy

Philadelphia Orchestra - O Holy Night (Cantique de Noël)

Rieu, Andre - Sirtaki (Zorba's Dance)

Rieu, Andre - Tango Olé Guapa

Shostakovich, Dmitri - Waltz 2 from Jazz Suite

Strauss, Johann - Kissing Polka

Strauss, Richard - Also Sprach Zarathustra
------------------------------------------------------------

There must be some OBVIOUS CLASSICs that I am missing here, eh?...Gimme a few...

Beethoven's "Symphony No. 5 in C minor" (simply known as Beethoven's 5th) is one of the most widely recognized classical pieces in the world.

Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik"

Handel's "Water Music"

Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain" (heard on Disney's "Fantasia")

Strauss' "The Blue Danube" (heard on "2002: A Space Odyssey")

Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker", "Swan Lake", "1812 Overture"

Wagner's - "Ride of the Valkyries" (I love the smell of napalm in the morning.)

Debussy's "Claire de Lune"

Some would find it hard to believe, but I studied classical piano
for 10+ years. Some of my favorites as a player:

- Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata
- Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, op. 13
- Rachmaninoff's Op. 7 (The Rock)
- Debussy's Claire De Lune
- Schubert Serenade in D Minor

I would suggest listening to Pavarotti performing Nessun Dorma before I would Andrea Bocelli.

I agree Artie. I love Bocelli's work, especially with Sarah Brightman. But Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma is the best in my opinion. It's my favorite song he sings.

brewers, try viewing some Sarah Brightman videos. She has a leaning toward pop but she sings some great opera as well.
