Don't be fooled....I think he will end up on the Red Sox. This is just a game to see who will flinch first. I really don't think Teixeira wants to come back to Anaheim and playing for Washington or Baltimore just seems ridiculous.

I'm thinking LAA. Good team, great weather etc. Pretty much a lock to play in the playoffs every year with only 4 teams in the Division, and the other 3 are clearly a step below the Angels

Don't understand why everybody always gets so excited over this guy. He seems to be a good all around player who puts up really good numbers. But he never seems to make his team much better. The Rangers were young when he came up and supposedly on the rise, but they never got good. We he went to the Braves they were a contender and everybody made a huge deal about the trade but they played worse after the trade. The Angels had a great regular season with him but were bounced out of the playoffs quick.

Dont get me wrong he is a real good player, but I would consider him a "star" and not a "superstar" and don't think he is worth the money or publicity.

He doesn't seem like a true difference maker like Manny or CC.

Why is it ridiculous?

Does everyone have to play for yankees, redsox or mets?

Maybe he wants to play for his hometown team?

If Baltimore can get Tex, they have a great core with Wieters, Tex, Markakis and Jones.

They have some great pitchers coming up and could be competing for a playoff spot in 2010-2011.

I personally think this guy is pretty damn overrated. Good player, yes, but not worth anywhere near elite money.

If the Red Sox sign Teixeira that will most likely mean the end of Mike Lowell's stay in Boston because the Sox will have to find a spot for Kevin Youkilis and 3rd base is probably the only viable position where they can play him. With any luck they can get a servicable catcher who can hit .260 for Lowell if they sign Teixeira.

He will not go to the LAA. His wife hates the west coast. I watched him every day and he is one hell of a player. lADEDA, you must of missed him in the play-offs. He is the only one to hit for an average

The reason it would seem ridiculous to play for Washington or Baltimore is because those teams are a few years away from being competitive (if not more). Who cares if you make $160M or $180M - either way you have way too much money that you don't know what to do with. Thus, the decision will ultimately come down to the team that has the best chance to win. If Teixeira can get a ring or two, he's definitely looking at the HOF down the road.

As far as the Orioles being competitive in a year or so, I'm not so sure. If they played in ANY other division, then maybe. However, the Rays are going to be the cream of the crop in baseball for the next 3 years with their young talent. Then you have the Red Sox and the Yankees, who will always spend enough money to be a contender. And Toronto is no slouch either.
