My boy is in a under 16 boys soccer league.

Im his coach and have been for 11 years. Same 30 to 40 kids play every years so alot of these kids and parents are now like friends and family.

Long story shory I have a new kid that I just got this year. He came from another city close by. Hes got a mouth. He is the TTP of under 16 boys soccer. Usually though its some curse words, mouthing off to the officials, or something to that effect.

He was in an extra mouthy was today. During a play my right wing's cross sailed over him and everyone by 10 feet and landed out of bounds.

He proceeds to yell out "Get it down I aint a black man" Everyone heard parents, kids, refs.

Mind you its a usual soccer league 99% whiteys. I heard alot of gasps and moans though and it seemed like people were pissed.

What do you do as coach right there?:icon_conf

I know that shit happens so fast I couldnt even tell if it was a racist comment.

But lets say the next play he does something that is smart on the field and he scores and yells out "See I aint a black man there either,I smart!"

Now whats my call?

Resign as head coach and have the kid take over as player-coach, it sounds like those softies could use a good ass-chewin.

HAS to be addressed, otherwise you're endorsing it.

A lot of kids repeat stuff like that like parrots and don't understand exactly what they're saying. At the earliest opportunity, maybe even by pulling him out of the game at a convenient time, he should be told in no uncertain terms that, even though he may not have had racist intent, words used like that can be perceived and interpreted by many as racist remarks. And racist remarks are not tolerated.

You have not called him a racist. Instead you've explained to him that remarks like that can be interpreted as racist and that racism isn't tolerated.

I had some issues where a bunch of kids were using a derrogatory term for a Hispanic as a nickname for a kid. They didn't realize it was a derrogatory term.

As a coach, it's your responsibility to teach life lessons when you can and this is one that the player may not be getting at home.

Punish him-

Tell him that he is no longer allowed to wear his white hood and robe to practice and for one week he is not allowed to burn crosses in the parking lot.
