BOSTON -- Glen "Big Baby" Davis was hospitalized Sunday with whiplash and a concussion after being involved in a traffic accident on his way to the Celtics-Knicks game.

Davis was expected to remain hospitalized overnight, according to team spokesman Jeff Twiss. The accident on the Massachusetts Turnpike happened around 2:30 p.m.

No further details of the accident were immediately available, although snow fell throughout the day Sunday, making for hazardous driving conditions.

Davis, in his second season out of LSU, was taken to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. Celtic president of basketball operations Danny Ainge went to the hospital to be with Davis.

Center Patrick O'Bryant replaced Davis on the active roster against the Knicks, with Boston trying to tie a team record with its 18th consecutive victory.

The Celtics defeated the New York Knicks 124 to 105 in Boston tonight to bring their record to a NBA best 26-2.

Rajon Rondo scored 18 of his 26 points in the third quarter to help the Boston Celtics tie a franchise record with their 18th straight win.

The win by Boston matched the NBA mark for the best start by a team with two losses. The Celtics can break the record at home against the Phildelphia 76ers on Tuesday night.

Coincidentally, Boston tied the Knicks and 76ers at 26-2. New York did it in 1969-70 and Philadelphia in 1966-67. Both teams went on to win NBA titles.

Boston’s 1981-82 team also won 18 consecutive games.

Beside Rondo's 26 points, Ray Allen had 18, Paul Pierce 17, Kevin Garnett 12 and Kendrick Perkins 12 points for the Celtics.

The Knick's two guard Quenton Richardson scored 29 points in a losing cause.
