Planning on getting a new career......Thoughts

So I'm gonna move in a new direction. 25 years old......Econ major......used to work for JPM and other crappy corporate gigs. Been trading the market on my own for a while. Thinking about changing careers.

Thinking about

1) Border Patrol......this would be awesome, you get to play hide and seek as an adult. Shoot Mexicans, ride ATV's......

Downside: shitty retirement package. Put 20 years in, and you might only be making $20k per year retirement b/c of their ridiculous annuity. And I might get stuck in the middle of nowhere, or worse off, TEXAS.

Upside: Laying the law down on our dirty neighbor ! $70k after 3 years.

2) Corrections......guard bad guys. Awesome retirement package. CT corrections gives u a pension of 50% of pay after 20 years, 2% more per year thereafter. Start at $38k, 36 hrs per week, 5 days on 3 days off. Father worked there. Some guys pulling in 70-100k w/ overtime.

Downsides: It could get boring.
upsides: Its an easy way to be state Po-po

3) Police...........i dont think i have any chance right now, b/c I dont think i'd pass the polygraph.

4) Professional gambler. Suck dick for rent $ if things don't work out

I think every prof. gambler should have a part time job (door man at strip joint, 7-11, drive a limo) to maintain sanity. Also to provide for the essentials.

Private contracting overseas, if you have any balls. Actually safer than border patrol.

150k/yr tax free is peanuts. Oh, and you get 2-3 months off every year.

But here's the clincher - if you don't know anybody, you don't have a chance of even being a candidate for the job. You can try all you want putting in applications but won't get as much as a second look unless you have a friend in that company when you apply, that can vouch for you. That's how I got in, but now I'm out.

You're not going to die that is just public perception because when cops do die thats all you hear about on TV for weeks.. in reality policing has a much lower fatality rate than many jobs, such as agricultural work, etc. In policing the number 1 problems are stress and catching colds/diseases from contact with so many people.. if you can handle the stress from sports gambling then a corrections officer would be a walk in the park.

LOL, security guys make a hell of a lot more than 150k!

I am talking about your basic jobs..I know for a fact that one certain company literally gave a group of ex-Taco Bell jobs in the food sector of the company, and they are making 120k/yr tax free doing the same shit they would be doing here for 30k/yr minus taxes.

Sure, guess thats the risk you take. If you don't have the balls, don't even look into it. You'll just be in a world of trouble if you ever take a job and decide to pussy out your first day working. :lol:

But in all seriousness, that has never happened..and very few people in private contracting ever get hurt or killed. It is like your in a group of seniority compared to the other groups your working around.

And yes, if you were to take a job anywhere and decide its not for you when you first start..then your in some deep, deep shit buddy.

I am an armed guard and i make like 60.000 a year and thats nothing.

Making $150k per year at a job is not what I'm looking for.

I trade futures professionally, and it'll take a few years before I start pulling in great money. At worst, and I don't hack it, I have corrections / border patrol / d#ck sucking to look forward to.......LOL
