"Fezzik" wins the HILTON SUPER CONTEST!!!

I know this was reported back in the NFL forum but I thought I would put this in the main forum also. Sometimes poster here at the Rx and professional sports bettor "Fezzik" won the Hilton NFL super contest.

I have met quite a few different characters since I have been out here in Las Vegas the past 5 months and without a doubt, in my eyes the most impressive guy I have met has been Fezzik. I was a huge fan before I moved out here but after meeting him my respect for him grew even more. It seems like a lot of times in life you meet people you cant wait to meet and they just dont quite live up to your expectations, well that wasnt the case at all when I met Fezzik.

I got a chance to go to lunch with him twice back in August and he really knocked my socks off. To say he was a genuis when it came to betting sports wouldnt be giving him enough credit. He was rattling off all sorts of information and was really on top of every football game, line, etc and remember it was only AUGUST!!! It was unbelievably impressive. I remember thinking to myself that this guy's passion, work ethic, knowledge, etc are exactly what it takes too beat the game of betting sports. I felt almost intimadated talking to him because I knew at that time that I was nowhere near his level in any of those things (I still am not but I am getting a little closer).

He doesnt have a clue (nor am I sure he even cares, LOL) but I came out of those lunches a much better gambler. I remember how he told me how excited he was for the upcoming football season and how he was so ready to have his best year ever betting wise. I kept thinking the whole time, here is this guy who has done very very well for himself by betting sports for a living and now here he was excited about the grind of another football season just getting started. You could see how fired up he was too get the season started. He knew that too have a winning year betting football he had too be on top of his game. He had to be fired up. He had too work his tail off, starting in the middle of summer for football season. He knew from expierence how hard this game is too beat and each year it is getting even harder. You could just really tell how focused he was.

I have bet sports a very serious level for a few years before I got here but I now work at least twice as hard as I did before moving here, if not more. I put in way more time doing this then I did my last "real" job. It consumes my entire day. I learned from Fezzik in those lunches how you need to put your heart and soul into this everyday if you want to win. I 100% believe that is the main reason he is successfull at this. This is what seperates the winners from the losers at anything in life. I think the whole key to betting sports for a living is staying one step ahead of everyone and the times I have been around Fezzik he is 3 steps ahead of the competition.

So anyways I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS FEZZIK (and thanks for helping me also). I think it is a great thing for sports gambling that a guy like Fezzik wins this type of contest. Great job!!!

Pretty interesting questions I ask huh.

Here's one though,how does he get down action if he is well known around town?

As a book wants recreational out of towner's as most properties would rather not have a sportsbook at all.

Thats why so many properties now lease out.

First off, I have been following the "Ice in Vegas" thread from the outset. Sounds like you are having a blast up there doing what you love to do. Im glad you had a chance to do it. Keep it going.

Im a small time bettor from down here in PHX. I do it as a hobby. I make the drive up to Vegas about 4-6 times during football season. I always do well. I guess thats why the wife keeps letting me do it. Anyway....

I drove up to Vegas this weekend and killed it. Went like 14-4. The nightcap was awesome. Chargers 1half -5, Chargers -7.5, Chargers over 52, La Tech under 46.5. The cocktail waitress at Bills kept it flowing all day. God bless her...

I always look forward to the drive home tuning into that sportsbetting show that runs on Monday morning following Sunday NFL football. The one with teddycovers.

This morning he mentioned Fezzik (sp?) and congratulated him on how well he did on all the contests in Vegas. I think he mentioned the Hilton, Southpoint, and the Stations. The host said he pulled over $250k.

Pretty damn impressive.

We need to meet up sometime Ice. Maybe next time I drive up.

What you should realize is that it's not nearly so much the amount itself of $60K that moves an NFL game but who is actually doing the betting. 60K wagered by a guy obviously at the top of his game right now like Fezzik is going to get the attention of a Sportsbook General Manager a great deal sooner and with much more respect than a rich whale from say the Far East betting the same side for same amount would..

There is money wagered and then there is sharp money wagered on games. The two type of wagers have very different effects on the price of the game in question.

These days with the Hilton Contest win under his belt Fezzik could probably move a NFL game with a lot less than $60K. On the other hand the same bet by made by an unknown walk-in like myself for example would just be another ticket written and entered into the chart for the game.

Works the same way Offshore if not moreso.

You are right that certain cappers move the lines more than the average joe. However, do you really think a book in Vegas is going to take $60k of action from a guy as sharp as Fezzik? I don't buy it.

i know for a fact he plays with one the current sponsors here and they let him bet 10k a game........vegas i agree with you..

That is a good point and probably one that is correct these days, especially on the strip. I thought about that when I was typing the post but my point was more about the difference between equally large bets made by so called square money and so called sharp money.

Who certainly means more than how much when it comes to large bets with real bookmakers. "Booking to faces" goes back 50 years or more.

You mean you couldn't walk into the Bellagio and whip out a shoe box full of $100 bills and bet $55,000 to win $50,000? No matter who you were? I am asking. Really, I do not know the answer?
