according to the herd, underdogs have won 9 of 12 bowl games involving ranked teams, with 11 out of 12 out playing the [favorite] higher rated team

this trend would point to a play on Ohio state for tonight's game. The money line is currently, +290.
Considering the performance of the B10 in bowls thus far, i find it hard to pull the trigger on that one. The lone favorite that has covered and dominated Usc, was against the B10 champ penn st.

according to dr.bob's statistical analysis, ohio st should be favored in this game. you can guess who he is on. so far his bowl record is about as good as the b10.

Underdogs have done well through the years in bowl games.

The Big Ten has ben awful, but if you look at the Big 12 they haven't faired all that well this bowl season either.

Most recently, Texas Tech.

I think Ohio St. will keep this game close and get an easy cover and possibly a SU victory.

This is coming from a Michigan and Texas fan against the much hated O.S.U.

Good luck

[bowl picks]
Florida -3
Texas -8
Penn State +9.5
Oregon +3
Georgia -7.5

I like Ohio St. for a few different reasons.

1. Ohio St. has great coaching. The team and coaches have something to prove tonight after the beat down they have taken in the recent National Championships.

2. Texas wishes it was playing on Thursday Night in Miami. They beat Oklahoma straight up and they flat out feel slated. History shows that teams that wish they were playing in a bigger bowl game, like the National Championship have played poorly in their bowl games.

3. Line movement. When the majority of the action is on one team (Texas) and the line moves to favor that team then a red flag goes up. The line opened at 10 or even 10.5 and has went down to as low as 8.

I also love Beanie Wells tonight. I think Chris Wells (against the #1 rush defense, statistically) will have a HUGE game.

Ohio St. will cover.

This is my second post on this forum with a play. I am 1-0 so far and the streak continues. Take the Buckeyes.

You might want to check #2. The exact opposite is the case.

2000 - Miami smashed Florida and Washington handled Purdue
2001 - Oregon smashed Colorado
2002 - No one in that situation
2003 - USC beat Michigan
2004 - Auburn beat VTU (the only close game of those noted)
2005 - none
2006 - none
2007 - Not sure anyone really fit that criteria last year, USC buried Illinois, Georgia buried Hawaii, WVU buried OU, Kansas beat VTU and Missouri buried Arkansas. USC, Georgia, WVU, OU, Kansas, VTU and Missouri all had two or fewer losses (LSU had 2).
2008 - USC buried PSU, Utah beat Alabama

And, add to that that UT still has an outside shot at an AP National Title and they are plenty motivated.

where cause i can still get over 90.5?

Where can you get 90.5? You should take it, because Wells will rush over 100 yards.

The Big 12 has a lot of serious passing teams and I think that rushing stat somewhat contributes to that. I think Chris Wells will have a HUGE game because they will feed him the ball quite a bit and he is a big game back. He did well in the National Championship against LSU last year and he will do even better tonight.

the lower ranked team,[ fla #2], has won over the higher ranked team, [okl. #1], in 10 of the 14 bowl games involving ranked teams. Further only one higher ranked team, usc, has dominated [covered] its bowl game against a lower ranked teams, add ga. who covered but did not dominate its game and the lower ranked team has covered 12 with 10
outright wins in 14 bowl games involving ranked teams.
In tonites national championship game we have the unusual situation of the lower ranked team [fla.] being the favorite [ats].
