that was my number one passion as a kid..seriously until I discovered gambling, flipping quarters, betting on games...I had a nice selection of USA butterflies as I traveled all over as a kid on family vacations and I spent hundreds of ours with my net out on trails...kept a few of my framed ones but not many....

Think I've caught two in my lifetime.....a monarch and a yellow one, plus a moth or two.

Also a couple Lightning bugs.

8: What makes butterfly wings colorful?
Butterfly wings are covered with tiny scales, each a single color. Most of the colors are produced by pigments, but the beautiful iridescence of some butterflies results from a reflective microstructure on the scale's surface. Don't touch a butterfly's wing -- the "powder" that rubs off is actually the scales.

Before my divorce was final,,, when things got real bad,,, I was isolated from freinds, and was sick to my stomach.. I lived in coral springs Fl. I started going to butterfly world, its a semi outdoor butterfly garden.

Man,,, was it amazing,, especially cool for me trying to get out side of a toxic household,,

Anyway, below is a youtube link to a 30 second video there,,

No butterflies/insects for me.

I did collect rocks when very young, for awhile. I have a few fossils like a trilobite, some mammoth teeth...and an older wife ( for now) :missingte

I never go into bugs much, did torture a few flies and such, in my time. I never collected butterflies, or such. I never saw much of a market in that ?

I have always liked reptiles, owned a few exotic snakes (Boas)....well two...I had a Ralph Kramden/Ed Norton half brained scheme of breeding them, some 20+years ago That didn't work out too well, overall.... along with my concurrent rat breeding to feed the snakes.... guys with snakes and rats attract weird chicks.... it was s. Calif, and I was young, but made nice money

I would even consider taking in a homeless iguana today, as long as my Cooters accept might accept it. Cooter is my cat, figure out the rest! :missingte
