I want to wrap up the 08 NFL season and make a thread for next year.

Past performance and experimental system records are posted for my benefit.

NFL computer picks are for the regular season only...I don't have systems for the playoffs.

The most interesting thing I have learned this year is that picking 5 games instead of just 3 would have more than doubled the units earned. The pick 5 system was documented at Wagerline in a contest...but it used the same system for picks. Picking the best 5 instead of just the best 3 picks.

That is some valuable information for us to learn.

I look forward to the 09 NFL season picking the best 5 NFL picks each week...hopefully making us all twice as profitable. :103631605

To answer the questions...the formula only works for the regular season.

I have tried it in the playoffs...but playoffs are just different.

I've also found that people really up their unit size for the playoffs...so any bad picks are greatly magnified.

I'd rather just stay with the regular season...thats my niche.

I mean Arizona is in the freakin Super Bowl...hats off to anyone that can predict that.

i want to make a system for NFL, but with only 16 games per team i dont know how to start, what do you do, what stats can i use?? thanks..

I get this type of question all the time...literally hundreds of PM's and emails.

I'm still not sure how to address it.

I don't mean any disrespect, but I tend to feel that people that ask this type of question are never going to build a "system".

If you need to ask...you don't "have it". You would already be out there looking and experimenting.

You need to have a real passion for it...either you do or you don't. Most do not.

If you think you do have the passion for it and would think nothing of spending hundreds of hours of research and testing and reading ect then give it a try.

I started out by reading every thing I could get my hands on...on the internet...anything to do with ATS or what correlates to beating the spread.

Two of my favorite sites for exactly that type of information are Two Minute Warning and StatFox.

You should read the articles at StatFox every day...and everything at Two minute Warning. That might give you some ideas....then google the hell out of it...look for more articles.

It's all out there...for free...but you have to really enjoy looking for it...because there is also a mountain of B.S. to wade through.

Find some good cappers and read every single post they ever posted...and read each new one every day....looking for hints and tidbits...and ideas.

Breakthroughs lead to other breakthroughs.

Have an imagination. Do not listen to conventional wisdom...it's for the most part over played or not true.

Organize the information so that you can keep it...retrieve it and use it in the future. I used to print out everything in hard copy and folderize it. Now I use a GMail acct just for that..and use the google search function to pull anything out that I want based on simple key words. You have to be organized.

Good luck...it's a long road. You better be fascinated with it and love it or it's not going to happen for you.

I'm going to post only Pick 3 as I have done in the past...each week of the regular season. :toast:

For the record...the preseason method has absolutely nothing to do with the regular season method.

Preseason was great last year...it's been flat this year at 9-9 so far.
