If you've never seen this, or you've never seen it on Blu-Ray (and have a Blu-Ray player), run, do not walk, to buy it for $35 new on Blu-Ray with free shipping!

One of, if not the best mini-series ever. And it's un-freaking-believable on Blu-Ray :103631605

Not a big war movie guy.

Hated Apocalypse Now and Platoon.

Loved Saving Private Ryan and Braveheart, which movies is this more geared towards?

Very similar to Saving Private Ryan, in fact Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are involved in both.

If you came across a single episode of Band of Brothers while channel-surfing, it would be easy to dismiss it as a carbon copy of Saving Private Ryan. From its washed-out cinematography to its intrusively reverent score, the HBO miniseries emulates the 1998 World War II epic in almost every way. And little wonder, since Ryan director Steven Spielberg and star Tom Hanks executive-produced the project, with the latter even directing an episode.

Thanks man.

Just got myself a set at the 35 dollar price, its a no brainer actually.

I can even watch it and resell it used on Ebay 6 months down the road for 35 bucks.

Blu Rays boxed sets really hold their values on Ebay

Saw HBo had a show called Generation Kill this year, watched an episode thought it was OK at best.

Any of you see that show? Is Band of Brothers much better than that?

FWIW I think Band of Brothers is better.

Band of Brothers is IMO more realistic as far as actual real combat goes than Generation Kill is. I have seen several episodes of Generation Kill and it is mostly young Marines from a re-con platoon advancing across Iraq that is barely able to put up a defense, mostly snipers and booby traps. Band of Brothers is about an Airborne Company of the 101st Airborne Division (Army not Marines) facing a desparate and still dangerous Whermacht (German armored infantry). The 101st Airborne really existed and saw a lot of action during WW2.

Two very different levels of danger as far as combat goes. I really can't say how realistic Generation Kill is, my guess is it is realistic but Band of Brothers is based on the actual true memoirs of a real company that fought in Africa, Italy, France and finally Germany during WW2.

Just want to say i got this awesome Blu Ray set and i have watched the first 6 eps, and it is by far the best TV show/mini series ever produced.

God it feels so fucking real.

PS i wiki'd this show and apparently the show cost 12 million EACH episode to produce, making this by far the most expensive TV series ever made.

Well worth the money though!

PPS only gripe i have is that they dont show enough of "the Bull", my favorite character/real person portrayed
