I forgot how good Iowa was that year. Illinois just sick and UM with their 4 1st round picks. IU won the Big 10, no idea how.

87 was their dominate year. 30-5.

89 team went 23-10. Had Roy Marble, Ed Horton, BJ Armstrong as the big 3. Roy Marble Iowas all time scorer. Had 37 against Illini that year.

I grew up 10 minutes from Roy Marble. Watched him play a handful of HS games, a man among boys. Played on the same team as former NFL WR Courteney Hawkins. Cant remember the story but think he fizzled out cause of drugs, havent heard much of him since, hope he is okay nowadays.

Never forget this was the year Steve Fisher took over the team the day before the tournament and the Michigan Wolverines made the miracoulus run to win the national championship. They were led by another former HS star who lived 10 miles or so from my home, Glenn Rice, one of the best pure shooters in NBA history, he sets some records for scoring in the tournament along the way. Reminds me of my favorite Glenn Rice story, will tell it tomorrow, pretty funny.

1989 was also the year of the Iceman, LOL. Graduation time from HS!!!

BJ Armstrong was stud along with Marble.

Flying Illini were the best team, they put 128 on LSU and Chris Jackson that year.

Remember the Nick Anderson shot to beat IU in Bloomington.
