Instead of a $20 bet for instance, you screw up and put $2000 down...

Anyone unfortunate enough to do this? How did it turn out?

I accidentally added a 0 to a bet once and of course my team misses a last second field goal for the win and the bet lost. Only done it once although I've caught myself at the confirmation screen a few times.

If you catch this early enough (before the line moves) you can always call your book and ask them to delete it, any decent book will do it. Specially if they check your history and see a bunch of $10 bets and none for $100.

I screwed up at the track once, while entering a trifecta accidentally picked a horse that was 28-1 instead of the horse i meant to take that was 2:1. That $2 Trifecta paid me $340..lol

I catch myself doing this at matchbook all the time...and I have confirmations off to take advantage of bad numbers quicker. Fortunately I have yet to hit enter with too many digits, but I figure it's only a matter of time.

If it does happen, I'll probably try to hedge back giving odds so that I'll end up making a small profit if someone takes me up on my bet...but if that fails I'll probably buy back the other side for a loss.

Drunk and not paying attention was my excuse.

never two digits, one has happened. Same thing as shdw01, not enough to cover a bet with two extra zeros, usually.

Not with Tony the A hole at 5 dimes. Only he is allowed to make mistakes, not you.

did this once on the Cubs, wish I could dig up the thread but I bet I think $1,500 instead of 150. Woke up in the 9th inning down 3-1. Aramis Ramirez hit a 2 run bomb and went to Extra Innings. Tried calling pinnacle in extras and canceling the bet but they wouldn't do it.

Lost in extras to a solo bomb in the 11th

not too easy, some will do it one time only (Wagerweb), some will do it routinely ( Greek).

Best not to need to ask for it, or just eat it on a buyback...if close to gametime.

Well, this mistakes shouldn't happen routinely. Some customers are just a pain in the butt so their accounts get flagged for stuff like this. Like I said, any decent book with good service will do it if the line hasn't moved and you call it in within a resonable amount of time. It also depends on which asshole you get to talk to and what kind of day he's having.

I've done it

I see a good price and click too fast. The two most recent times I've split, each time with an extra digit. I've had only modest success getting a play to be deleted, and have had to buy back on one occasion.

Ultimately it's my fault but if the line has not moved the book could be more flexible. I go fast at some books because the lines change so often near game time and I want to get locked in.

Greek is more from what I've heard, rather than personal experience. I don't fuck this up often...betting wrong side is similar to adding a zero, probably a year since I've done it.

As a book, I'd not want calls on it frequently, either. Certainly not close to gametime....once every 6 months for a volume bettor, maybe....with no line move.
