quick question for computer people..

I bet on BetPhoenix... whenever I have my computer hooked up directly to my cable modem, the horse betting application works fine. Whenever it runs through my wireless router though, the horse racing application won't work on either my laptop or my desktop computer. Is there a way to fix this? I think it may have something to do with settings on the computer because when I'm at school, the wireless there won't allow me to pull up the horse racing application either. Any help would be appreciated.

You would have to change a setting in your wireless router to allow whatever port is being blocked. I have no clue which port that is nor do I know your wireless router model so I can't say "do this" and it's fixed.

It is a Belkin G Wireless Router.. Do I just pop in the software and edit the port or how would I do that? Sorry, I'm computer literate but I don't know how to fix this router thing. Could I call BetPhoenix and find otu what port it would be?

is it a website or a software you install? if it is a software it could be a ports issue but I find it very weird that a modern application that does nothing out of the ordinary would require that

when I go to betphoenix.com... i hit the horse racing tab on betphoenix and it throws up that runtime error... when it's hooked up directly to my cable modem though, it works perfectly fine. I had to unhook it a minute ago to put in a couple of horse racing bets. I called betphoenix and asked them the port and they said port 80... I then called Belkin and got them to help me unblock port 80 but once I did that, it still didn't work.. it's very weird.. not sure what to do now.

ok if its a web application......its not going to be a port issue (thats what they mean by port 80 etc done via webpage)

I suggest that you update the firmware of your router......to do this in a nutshell (But read the full instructions)

you go to belkin.com , find your model , go to downloads for your model and find the latest upgrade

then you plug your computer to the router PHYSICALLY not using the wireless feature........(this is because if your connection dies at this point your router might be an expensive paperweight)

and upgrade the firmware of the router

it might not fix it but its worth a shot

I still think it's something being blocked by your router. Do you ever see https after logging in instead of http? If so, you might have to unblock port 443 as well (not sure if they use a secure site or not).

I would call Belkin back and tell them when you take their router out of the mix, it works fine. If you told them that they should know it's THEIR problem and help you.
