My father in owns a small aircraft. He has hired a pilot to transport him on business trips. He would be willing to let me use the airplane at my discretion if I obtained a private pilots liscence. I have been contimplating this for a few weeks. I have done my research, and found a trainer that is willing to basically train me for free as long as I furnished the aircraft ( he needs to log his hours.) any insight or suggestions?:toast:

have had my license for 22 years now...yeah a little single engine cessna 172 is a great one to learn in, im assuming thats what he has orsomething similar...runs about 10-11 gallons an hour, cheapest way to do it is what I did....fill up at the gas station and fuel up yourself...much cheaper than buying fuel at the FBO...the written isnt so bad, just take a good ground school course and you'll do fine...the proficiency test is a breeze, just dont crash and you'll do fine...

Do it. You may like it. If you dont you haven't lost much. You will never find a better chance than that.

Got my private in 1964.
