Posted this on another message board, and figured I'd share here. Last nights game reminded me of this.

Background:

Nebraska sports are what I live for (and my brother, royalfan), especially Husker basketball. In college, I never missed a home game, and was always the first one to the games so I could get my same front row seat. We'd always be right under the basket on the side the visiting team would warm up and be on offense the first half. It got to the point that by my junior and senior year I could show up right at game time and the student section would have my seat saved. I would travel to away games and the players from opposing teams would know who I am.

Little backround on my obession before the Kansas story - Every game, I'd come prepared knowing everything about every player on the opposing team so I knew what ammo to throw at them. What their GPA was, arrests they had, girlfriends names, etc. Pretty much was obsessed with Husker basketball.

JJ Sulivan from Iowa State hated coming to play at Nebraska... but he would always come talk to me before the game. I went to watch Nebraska at Iowa St. in the last matchup we would have against JJ and when I got there I yelled "SULLY!!" while they were warming up. He waved me down to the court and he said how I had to be the best fan in college basketball, and that he hoped he made 10 threes on our asses. Well, he made 7 and throttled us, but after the game he invited me to his wedding that following March - I didn't go, but cool nonetheless.

For David Harrison from Colorado I'd bring thirty double cheeseburgers and every time his fat ass came to the free thrown line we'd all start waving them in the air, chanting "fat ass"... he couldn't hit a freethrow to save his life.

On to the Kansas Story.... My sophomore year in college we were playing top-15 Kansas with Keith Langford, David Padgett, Wayne Simien, Michael Lee, Aaron Miles, and a freshman by the name of JR Giddens.

Giddens was warming up from corner three-point line right by where I stand every game. He was missing every shot, so I had the entire student section counting his consecutive misses. His 11th miss in-a-row was missed so badly that it clagned off the front of the rim right to me. So, being an intramural king I decided to take the ball onto the court and shoot a three from right next to where he was standing. It was a perfect swish and I said "That's how its done, bitch" He wasn't too happy at that and looked for security to get me off the floor. Little does he know, we are Nebraska and nobody cares about basketball but me, and they don't give a fuck what we do. I went back to my seat and continued heckling when another ball comes to me. I proceed to go out and knock down another three... again being a huge douche and bragging about it.

A couple minues later I'm talking to the people behind me when a ball drills me in the back. Aaron Miles had seen me shooting at their basket and was apparantly so pissed off that he winged the ball at me... they all huddle at their basket before heading into the locker room with about 3 minutes to go before the game starts. I take the ball and lob it into their huddle and it drills Michael Lee right in the face....ooops. Their entire team was glaring at me and were all royally pissed off.

The game begins, and no joke, after every score they make in the first half they stare and point at me. I feel really proud at this moment and our shitty Huskers were putting on a show. We ended up winning the game by a good margin and I will always credit that victory to me.

The next year, they came back and kicked our ass but they all remembered me and were talking shit to me before the game. Fun times, and after watching the game last night, I totally missed being in the student section.

Great story, sounds like you would have been fun to go to some games with. I think Giddens got caught stealing TV's from Walmart or something.

Yeah you pretty much sound like a douchebag for this. You crossed the line as a fan and were lucky you didn't end up with a broken nose by an accidently pass right to the snout
