Free-agent outfielder Manny Ramirez has turned down the Dodgers' latest offer, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The one-year, $25 million proposal was made during a face-to-face meeting Sunday night between Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti and Ramirez's agent, Scott Boras.
Ramirez, 36, is seeking a four- or five-year contract, sources say. The Dodgers offered him a higher annual salary than any free agent has received this off-season.
Free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira will average $22.5 million per season in his new eight-year, $180 million contract with the Yankees.
Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez averages $27.5 million in his 10-year, $275 million deal with the Yankees, and Boras has been telling the Dodgers that Ramirez wants to paid as much or more than A-Rod on an annual basis.
The offer was the Dodgers' third of the off-season to Ramirez.
Shortly after the season ended, they offered him a two-year, $45 million contract with an option for a third year that could have raised the total value to $60 million.
They later offered him salary arbitration, but Ramirez rejected the chance to earn in the $25 million range on a one-year, non-guaranteed contract. The Dodgers' latest offer is guaranteed. The Giants are the only team besides the Dodgers with known interest in Ramirez, but Giants officials repeatedly have said that they would sign him only if the price was right.

My Question is, Will Manny be on the unemployment Line ??

I DID say this to everyone i spoke to after manny ripped up his 2 year 40M deal after his monster season, that he was 36 fucking years old, why does he think he will get more than 2 years 40M?

Because he will hit 80+ homers and drive in 220+ runs in the next two seasons......plus in all liklihood hit above .300............and just as importantly, he will make a team an instant contender, fill the seats, and sell merchandise.

He did it because he signed with Boras after that deal was made so if he exercised his option (or was it a team option?) Boras wouldn't see a cent. The idea was to let Boras negotiate his next deal so that A. Manny would see more money, and B. Boras would too.

Its been reported/rumored that Manny left the Red Sox clubhouse telling anyone who would listen that he was going to get a 4 yr $100M contract. The problem is that no one trusts him to play his entire contract out, everyone figures he will play two years and then start his Manny being Manny schtick. His off field behavior has cost him a sh*tload of money.

I still think hell end up playing at Citi Field

And this makes the fucker worth 100 mill? Get a grip. This fucking clown is a freak show every night. You dont know if he will even be in the lineup on any given night. The guy is an enigma to the game of baseball at its current economic state. Not only baseball, but our economic state in general. I hope no one signs him....it would be the best thing for baseball....I cant stand these people who think that the league wont survive without them. Well, I got news for you pal, the league would be just fine. Thank you, now get the fuck out of our headlines once an for all you attention whore S.O.B!

You think he will get over 2/$40M :lolBIG::lolBIG::lolBIG:

Maybe the Giants offer AROUND that, but Manny isn't getting anything better than 2/$20. You can bank on that. The only teams talking to him on LAD/SFG from what i've been hearing.
