Betphoenix parlay odds ?

It seems they don't calculate it out mathematically ( when you try to parlay a lot of teams ), like Bookmaker, and 5D would do.

I was screwing around, going to put in a few eight teamers ( I know its not a good bet). 256 ways and eight teamer can go. My test was all -110 lines. the risk amount was $4. A parlay calculator says it should pay $701.78. It came up as $334 at Phoenix, so I passed it

The odds are fair on 2, 3, and 4 team parlays, and terrible on 5 or more teams.

With a $10 bet, here are the Phoenix pays. All using -110 lines

2 26.34
3 60.12
4 108.94

5 178.01
6 348.72
7 597.37
8 835.01

83-1 on 8 teams is horrible !

It should pay around 150 to 1.

But I think that most books figure that a player who bets over a 5 team parlay would be just satisfied with any big win. Why pay a huge payout when most players would accept 83-1 as a good number.

9 teamer should be around 250-1
10 teamer around 500-1

I rarely play stuff like that, just more or less testing the payoffs, once in awhile, I throw one in. I rarely play more than 2-3 on a parlay.

some other shops cap the parlays also..carib might. makes no sense they are huge overlays for the books to offer the already bad prices and not truncate them thus stopping all aciton.

I have nine 68% winning plays today :missingte, they went 8-0 yesterday, ( ask UBM),so I figured I'd round robin them into two teamers, then do nine 8-teamers ( in case one misses), and one 9-teamer, for a few bucks apiece.

Their 2, 3, 4 and 6 teams are ok the rest are rotten. 4 and 6 are not that great.

really 2 and 3 are normal, using the -110 lines.

4 isn't great, 6 is bad, gets worse from there.

3 tops for decent odds.

Wow, those are the highest parly odds I've seen. What amazes me is that their 3 team parlay pays more than the real odds. At -110 per bet, the real odds should be:

2 team 2.6446:1
3 team 5.9579:1
4 team 12.2833:1

As you can see their 2 team and 4 team parlays don't make any mathmatical sense, but that 3 team parlay offered at 6.012:1 pays MORE than what one would earn betting each game seperately. That's wild. Of course if you can somehow get each game at half juice (-105), then none of them make any mathmatical sense.

Nothing huge there, you can get +280, and +650 on 2-3 at a few places.

You can parlay at -105 at BP, making it close to +280, +650.

I used stuff that was not at -105 ( halves and quarters).

Bottom line is don't play over 3 teams with them....no biggie to me. I like the shop, just pointing this out, as a service to others.

"Some sites offer +280, and +650 on 2 and 3 team parlays"!?! I didn't know that. Admittedly I haven't used that many sites, but none of the sites I have used ever offered those kinds of odds. That's impressive.

Mathmatical sense or not, I quit betting parlays years ago on principle alone.

too harsh on BTJ, there KS, he's not really a math ( or English) type. Books love guys that bet nickels+ with a 3k balance, and have a hold on the money.

Betpop is one such book. Some books have even paid three teamers at a no-vig rate of +700.... BOS, Lazerwager, and BCN, all are gone, didn't work too well. :nohead:

I like Phoenix, but I also call it as I see it.

Fernando UBM, doesn't seem to want to address the shortpaying parlays, real short. He certainly must be aware of this thread, since he is active today. He should say something, IMO !

I can see capping the payoff on a parlay to 50k or something, but not the odds on the parlay, the vig adds up to give the book a pretty large advantage, when you parlay 8 teams, and similar.

I certainly can see not wanting to take a $500,000 hit to some lucky Fucker hitting a ten teamer, but if you cap the payoff ( instead of the odds), no problem, preferably the software rejects a bet, paying beyond the limit.
