Been there briefly on a cruise.... I wouldn't go there because it's nothing by wall to wall shopping in the form of outdoor vendors.

Mazatlan is much nicer.

Been there twice in the last 2 years. As far as restaurants for the most part stayed in the resort restaurants. If you are in the Marina area there are alot of decent places to eat along the water.

If you like Cigars let GoGo know as can let you know where the only legitimate cuban cigar store is in the whole area. Do not buy Cuban Cigars anywhere else as they are all fakes except at this one place and also at the Airport duty frees at departure.

A ton of street vendor type outlets so don't look vendors in the eyes unless you want to be stalked.

Outside of the resorts we did ATV riding and Zip Lines in the jungles which were both very worth while experiences especially if you have never done them.

I've been twice. I really enjoyed it. Of course i can't remember any rest. names but there are plenty of good ones to choose from.

One thing I can tell you that if you have not already booked your place to stay I recommend mexicandestinationsdotcom. Very nice as well as reasonable villas.

I was there in 1986 and was a dump.

Was in Sept. and it rained every afternoon which washed crap into the ocean and made the ocean look like sewage.

A lot of beggars.

We found a restaurant/bar that had a satellite for watching football,we hung there the whole week, stayed drunk.

That was 1986,so sounds like it may be better from others response.

went there for my bar trip. not as nice as i thought it would be, and dont think i'll go again because i felt like it was a tourist trap. dont like the feeling that locals are always trying to take advantage of me. the front desk of our hotel tried to screw us w/ currency exchange, camera was stolen from one of our rooms (don't know how, but that's what they said), they were lookin to charge us $30 cover to get into senor frogs. zip lining was fun, and some of the restaurants were good (mauricio's and another one that makes fresh guac at your table come to mind). a good source of info, at least a couple years ago, is puertovallarta.net. forum was helpful
