The Irony Stings....

As I walked out of RJS with the black and gold confetti raining down, I couldnt help but think back...

My father was an ASU grad. We went to games together at Sun Devil Stadium as far back as I can remember. Im as die hard ASU as it gets.

The 1996 season. My senior year at ASU. Had student tickets 19 rows up on the 50 yard line. Rushed the field as we beat Cal to seal up the Rose Bowl berth. Rushed the field down at UofGay 2 weeks later on their home turf just to rub it in.

On to Pasedena. Me and my college buddies had the time of our lives that trip. What a game. We were down in the 2nd half and Jake pulled out an amazing drive late in the 4th. Capped off with a great scramble and dive into the endzone to take the lead over the #4 Buckeyes.

Too much time left on the clock...

Flash forward...

Kurt and Fitz take over in the 4th quarter. Make the biggest 4th quarter comeback in Super Bowl history. Too much time left on the clock...

The irony?

Who caught the winning TD catch in that Rose Bowl to beat ASU and take away our national title hopes? David Boston. Drafted by the Cards. FU Ohio St!

Who led that drive for OSU at QB? Joe Jermaine. AZ native. FU Ohio St!

Who coached that Ohio St. team? John Cooper. Former ASU coach. FU Ohio St!

Who crushed my dreams in Tampa last weekend? In much of the same fashion as what happened in Pasadena 12 years ago? Santonio Holmes. FU Ohio St!

I have a new found respect for the Michigan Wolverines. Rodriguez better deliver. I hate those OSU bastards.

As a huge fan of all the local teams here in PHX, it just seems like its heartbreak after heartbreak.

If it wasnt for the Diamondbacks winning in 2001, I think we would be the only city with all 4 major sports to not own a championship.

Not really much to look forward to until next football season. This Suns team is a train wreck. I say we trade the Black Jesus and blow this thing up and start over. Im tired of Amares act.

Even though I had the Steelers ML, I thought the Cards were screwed that game. Glad you had a good time.
