Commuter jet crashes into home near Buffalo

BUFFALO, New York - New York state police said a 50-passenger commuter plane has crashed into a home in suburban Buffalo.
State Trooper John Manthey said the plane hit a house in Clarence around 10:10 p.m. EST Thursday. The house is engulfed in flames.
He says they don't know whether there were any passengers on the plane. They also don't know if there were any injuries in the home.

Manthey says the plane may have been headed to Buffalo Niagara International Airport. He says authorities have called the Federal Aviation Administration.

Harrington is south of buffalo, so he is safe (unless he was up visiting). This is about 6 miles from where we live, i didnt hear anything, i was fast asleep.

with the weather we were experiencing last night I expect that icing had a major role on this crash. My prayers go out to all those affected by this tragedy.

The most disturbing part about this crash is that the only faith I had left in the airline industry was Continental. Now you can just throw that out the window.

very sad, makes you think about how you just never know. i mean, think about the guy who got killed in his house. think he ever thought that when his time came it was going to be because a plane fell out of the sky and landed on his house?

very sad though, and my thoughts are with those who lost loved ones.

That's true bigten & always the arguement airlines use when comparing to automobiles, but.............

At least when I get in a crash (wreck) on the ground I have somewhat of a chance........

first fatal crash in the USA since 2006.... clearly the safest way to travel.. it was opeated by Cogan air... who the hell are they anyway...stick to the main carriers ..

Agreed.

Might be a starting point for pilots. The pilot in the plane last night had only three years flying experience, and perhaps as little as 2-3 months experience with the type of plane he was flying.
