Which single season (name the team and year plus the actual three outfielders) starting outfield had the most career home runs when you added all three starters career total homers?

B'man--Three brothers (Jesus, Matty, Felipe) and 1 son/nephew (Moises).

Unless you count the forgotten brothers Bob and Boog.....

Also not to be confused for the trifecta of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Alou.

Moises Alou started alongside Bonds and Steve Finley for the Giants, with a total of 1398. That may or may not grow larger

Dunn-Hamilton-Griffey from the Reds days has a chance, but still pretty far away. . .

Winner..

same year...SF Giants

LF McCovey 521
CF Mays 660
RF Felipe Alou (one of the four Alou brothers who played MLB) 206

1387 total homers.

Regarding the 2006 SanFrancisco Giants which was the only year Steve Finley played in San Francisco. That team fielded a regular outfield of:

LF Barry Bonds 130 games
CF Steve Finley 139 games
RF Randy Winn 149 games

Moises Alou only appeared in 98 games as the 4th outfielder.

Outfield Inn GStarted Games
-----------+----+---+--
RWinn 1194 136 141
SFinley 973 103 130
BBonds 875 115 116
MAlou 725 90 92

The question is "Which single season (name the team and year plus the actual three outfielders) starting outfield had the most career home runs when you added all three starters career total homers?"

One cannot use Moises Alou as the third starting outfielder in place of Randy Winn by any stretch of the imagination.

Moises Alou hit 228 career homers more than Randy Winn which gave that 2006 SF Giants starting outfield of Winn, Finley and Bonds a grand total of 1170 career homers, well off the mark set by the 1963 Giants starting outfield.

Who was the Russian born pitcher that was the first 300 game winner in Japanese Professional Baseball history? He had 251 more complete game starts than non-complete game starts - He died at age 40 while driving drunk into a train with 303 wins.

Somewhat ambiguous since you can go to retrosheet and see a number of examples when Alou, Finley and Bonds all started in the outfield together. That is really not stretching the imagination

Too bad the Giants never started McCovey and Cepeda in the outfield at the same time (or maybe that's just too bad for their opponents that they never tried it)

Fyi

Without splitting hairs the trivia question was what starting outfield hit the most career home runs when you added all three starters career total homers?" The answer is the 1963 SF Giants with an outfield of Willie Mays, Willie McCovey and Felipe Alou.<!-- / message -->

Regarding Orlando Cepada:

Actually Orlando Cepada played parts of three games in leftfield for the Giants in 1963. Harvey Kuenn played in 47 games in the Giant outfield including some starts but that did not make either of them the day in and day out routine starters which is the basis of the trivia question.

Just as Moises Alou's 90 games started did not make him the routine day in and day out starter because he was the 4th outfielder behind the Bonds,Finley/Winn outfield combination.

In fact Moises Alou only started in 15 games alone (without Winn or another outfielder besides Bonds and Finley in the lineup) along with Bonds and Finley in 2006.

Link to just one of three games where Orlando Cepada played in left field for the 63 Giants.

Earlier in their careers it was Cepeda who was a regular in the outfield before whining so much. No wonder the Giants could come up with more talent than any other team yet never win

When a player like that is in the Hall-of-Fame, you have to wonder how anyone could say character has any thing to do with it at all
