Best Picture - Nominees: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Frost/Nixon," "Milk," "The Reader," "Slumdog Millionaire"

"Slumdog Millionaire" is the odds on chalk to win best film over "Milk,"
starring Sean Penn as gay activist Harvey Milk and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," with Brad Pitt as a man who ages backward. The final nominees Frost/Nixon and The Reader are long shots to say the least.

Slumdog will win in a cake walk.


Best Actor - The Nominees: Richard Jenkins in ''The Visitor,'' Frank Langella in ''Frost/Nixon,'' Sean Penn in ''Milk,'' Brad Pitt in ''The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,'' Mickey Rourke in ''The Wrestler'

The best-actor Oscar comes down to a showdown between Penn in "Milk"
and Mickey Rourke as a faded athlete in "The Wrestler." The rest are
there as also rans.

I'll Take Sean Penn because he deserves it more than sentimental and betting fav. Rourke.

Best Actress - The Nominees: Anne Hathaway in ''Rachel Getting Married,'' Angelina Jolie in ''Changeling,'' Melissa Leo in ''Frozen River,'' Meryl Streep in ''Doubt,'' Kate Winslet in ''The Reader''

Tough call between Winslet playing a German Nazi-era prison guard in "The Reader" over Streep as a nun who suspects sex abuse in a Catholic school in "Doubt".

Give me Streep by a nose, but Winslet has me scared - Call it an entry 1 and 1A.

Best Supporting Actor - The Nominees: Josh Brolin in ''Milk,'' Robert Downey Jr. in ''Tropic Thunder,'' Philip Seymour Hoffman in ''Doubt,'' Heath Ledger in ''The Dark Knight,'' Michael Shannon in ''Revolutionary Road''

The Late Heath Ledger is cinch to win as the villain Joker in the latest of an endless string of Batman movies "The Dark Knight." His posthumous win, only the second in Oscar history behind Peter Finch's name being called for ''Network'' will bring down the house.



Best Supporting Actress- The Nominees: Amy Adams in ''Doubt,'' Penélope Cruz in ''Vicky Cristina Barcelona,'' Viola Davis in ''Doubt,'' Taraji P. Henson in ''The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,'' Marisa Tomei in ''The Wrestler''.

The most wide open category among the "prestige" Oscars. Include Penelope Cruz in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" against Marisa Tomei in "The Wrestler," Taraji P. Henson for "Benjamin Button" and Viola Davis and Amy Adams, both in "Doubt."

My upset special is Viola Davis (call me crazy if you want) over the IMHO not so terrific Penelope Cruz.

Yes I did by one means or another, all except WALL-E as I rarely watch animated movies.

I did however do some reasearch on that category and feel confident the movie being nominated for six different Oscars and already the winner of 34 various other awards plus 26 other nominations proves it has what it takes to win an Oscar. WALL-E has already won a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award for best animated film 2009. No question in my mind the movie will have an excellent chance to win The Academy's Best Animated Feature Film of the Year Oscar tonight.

agree 100%....he was amazing as well...not as if they are just awarding it "because" he died....he would have been the favorite alive as well

Just watched the Wrestler last night, Rourke did a fantastic job, no one else could have played that role as well.

I think Winslet pulls this one out against the heavyweight Streep. this is her 6th Nomination and I think she'll take it.

Haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire yet but the buzz is insane, it's one of those movies that hit the right chord at the right time. I'm sure it will be forgotten about in a years time but it will ride the feel good wave to a win.

Had ledger not died this one would be closer, Robert Downey Jr or Josh Brolin could have had a chance.

Saw the Wrestler last night, was a little disappointed. It was good, but I don't think Mickey Rourke really went too far to play Ram. I heard Sean Penn was incredible in Milk. Hollywood tends to like homo and holocaust movies, what a surprise..

Anne Hathaway as best actress in the big upset of the night. It doesn't hurt to be the most beautiful of this bunch either.

I saw slumdog millionare at the theaters Friday, and I can't keep talking about how good the movie was. I know it has nothing to do with the betting that is being discussed, but it was def one of my favorite movies I have seen in quite some time. I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen this movie to see it right away

I agree with pretty much all of the picks except for Penn over Rourke. I think Rourke deserves the Oscar and will most likely get it. I liked Milk, but Penn didnt impress me any more than usual. If I wanted top notch Penn, I'd watch Assassination of Ricahrd Nixon or Mystic River, not Milk.
