Slumdog overhyped?

It was good and all, but I dont see what the big deal is. The ending was fairly obvious and a little disappointing, and the fact that it was in English robbed the movie all of its ghetto and artsy-fartsy credibility IMO.

it reminds me of obama/mania...... lots of hype ,,,,,,, but not much substance !

Well since your average joe is a sucker for the standard rags to riches, boy gets girl, and they live happily ever after Hollywood movie template I dont see how it could lose.

Haven't seen it but I'm convinced it will be one of those movies that when next years Oscars roll around people will have to be reminded of who won best picture.

Great, great movie. Right up there with The Departed and Gladiator for me as far as recent Best Pictures are concerned.

Yes NES wont take this country long to get over Obama either. But the funny thing after 4 years all the Obama lovers will still blame the conservs! BUt you all will see! I thought it was good but overrated. I think the thing people like about it is the rags-to-riches part and the fact that it has gripping situations of life and death and romance. I thought it was a bit contrived in the fact that everything fell in place for the guy to win.

What made this film so great is the detailed and rich story telling of how he got his answers. And how it crosses perfectly with the drama involved with the main story itself.

Especially for an Indie film, it's an artistic marvel.

rob your posts consistently remind me why you are one of my favorite posters and my favorite mod. although I don't really know how to rate the moderator thing because I cannot tell you one moderator function I have noticed you doing in a long time.

But anyway, I agree with your assessment of the movie and how great the storytelling was. I really enjoyed it.

Milk, I watched most of it. I wanted to see it for Penn's performance which I heard so much about. And SP is great and very convincing. It is not the easiest of roles to play, especially to the level he did.

I watched it! I Loved it except for the last part where they Dance Like Queers but it was well well thought out. Definetly a Great Picture worthy.
