I would recommend you go with a new, less expensive lap top. You don't need to spend more than a couple hundred now to get a decent laptop. I did buy a used laptop 5-6 years ago that still works fine. I had to spend about $300 on new RAM, Hardrive and DVD player/burner for it. Check out the 2 sites below for an idea of what you can get for $400 now.

Do you plan to use it on the go, away from home?
How many pages do you open or surf at the same time on the computer?

Nothing more aggravating than having a computer, especially a laptop, that is slow & drags, like so many I've seen because a lot of people don't ask for extras.......
