Just had a meeting and been told that they are trying to keep all jobs and all benefits.....(10% pension contribution, health, etc)

First step today was that there will be no raises in 2009.

:>(

Not to sound like an idiot, but I seriously thought I was immune to all of this financial chaos I see around me left and right.

come on guys, misery loves company....who got a raise-halt/pay-cut/pension-stoppage?

90% of our clients are healthcare specialists (doctors, dentists, etc.)....and people still have to go to the doctor (we have less than 10 cosmetic surgeons in our client list....unless you count dentists....those are iffy)

Figured people can't stop going to the doctor, so if they aren't hurting, we aren't hurting.....makes you think.

I guess no raise is better than paycut....and to an extent paycut is better than loss of job (unless you survive the layoffs)...

No raise in 2008, no raise in 2009.

401k match was recently eliminated.

And the company is still dumping thousands.

Hey I just got a raise. The Mesiah just gave me 100 a month raise on unemployment.

Shdw Maybe you should stop gambling so damn much and just save as much cash as you can.
I thought you are getting married. I hope she knows you are a gambler if not that will make problems for you.

Same here, no raise in 2009. Also, in my business you gotta follow the money and it ain't in the US, so I'm having to travel overseas more & more. Same pay, more travel, less time at home . . . sucks.

you are completely correct....today's news + the ass-rape I took this past weekend has humbled me a bunch as to my gambling.

My girl knows that I gamble but she 1) has no idea the stakes....I think she believes I wager $20-$40/game....and not multiple games daily.....and 2) chooses to ignore it.

We are tying the knot in september and I will have to seriously tone things down until then. Have to learn to stop chasing and stop the BJ.

wedding = $50,000+ thank god she is paying for over half of the damn thing....^<<^

FYI to those thinking of getting married.....skip the big wedding....it is a big waste and the money could be used for sooo much better things that will start your marriage off on the right foot.

50,000 shit if they want to help you that much tell them that would be a great cash gift and do something on the small side.

I had 125 people ate a great Country Club and had primerib. Open bar was also included I think the final cast was 16-18k.

I would tone it down with the way things are going. Hell that year we spent a ton of money
Sept - bought house
October - got married
November - bought car

I was floored with the pace we were spending money.

Tell them you wouldn't feel good about spending that kind of cash for 1 day

Making a living trading in the markets means you decide what makes your money. You don't have to listen to an abusive boss or follow the direction of a retarded boss.

If you can make more money than the appreciation of housing you don't have to have tens of thousands of dollars tied up in a down payment and you don't have to wait 5 years for your house investment to start making returns. The reason bankers will take your money for a house deposit is because they can make more than you can with it.

sucks...my pension matches a 10% of gross as an employer paid contribution. That is great but just the fact that I'm feeling even part of this is extremely frightening.

My office is small (under 20 people, including the 5 seasonal we have right now)
