Pirates : Manager John Russell confirmed that Jason Jaramillo, who is competing to be the team's backup catcher, will start the game behind the plate. Ryan Doumit, Adam LaRoche, Luis Cruz, Freddy Sanchez, Jack Wilson, Ramon Vazquez and Nate McLouth will not be taking the trip with the team.

Mets #2 hitter Is Oliver Perez. At least for today. Perez is scheduled to pitch two innings in the Mets’ game today against Florida, and Jerry Manuel wants to see him hit. Actually, Manuel would prefer that Perez bunt, which would mean that Luis Castillo would have gotten on base ahead of him. Based on what Manuel saw yesterday, that isn’t just wishful thinking.
