Question, our dog is about 3 years old. His shots are up to date and fully vaccinated. He is not fixed.

Now this only happens when we take him to the dogpark. As soon as he gets into the mix with the other dogs and running around I can see that he foams at the mouth. It's f'ing gross. Now this doesn't happen when we walk him or when he plays with the other dogs in our neighborhood.

But whenever he's at the dog park and starts up with his marking and running and playing, within 20 minutes his mouth is totally soaked with saliva.

Anyone know whats up or experience this with their dogs?

sounds like a normal healthy dog to me, some dogs, just drool more than others.

I used to have one that drooled like crazy in the car, there is probably something about being excited at the park that makes him drool alot.

St bernards Drool alot

Why Is My Dog Foaming At The Mouth?

My dog has started foaming at the mouth whilst playing with a ball/stick. It doesn't happen at any other time and it has only occurred in the last 6 months (he is 6 years old). Everything I have read on the internet relates to parvo or rabies but I don't believe it's that serious as nothing else about him has changed. (Jacqui Norman - South Australia)

This type of foaming at mouth is quite common and is normally a result of the dog's state of mind rather than what they are playing with. Some dogs show this phenomenon when excited, scared, or stressed. Others show it as a sign of heat stroke form lots of running around. In most cases it disappears when the strong inducing element stops and is nothing to be concerned about. If however your dog shows these symptoms in one particular fields or location then it could be something more obscure, such as a reaction to a specific vegetation or smell.
