Lightning season ticket prices drop

Winding down a second poor season in a struggling economy, the Lightning announced it will reduce season ticket prices, about 10 percent for most seats and as much as 80 percent for some. Ticket renewal forms will be mailed Friday.

The biggest price drop involves the reclassification of some terrace level seats, dropping their price to $239 a season. Prices for single-game tickets and partial season plans have not been determined, the team said.
"With one of the biggest arenas in the National Hockey League, a difficult economic time facing our fans and team performance not where we hoped it would be, we know the right thing to do is to decrease prices in many of the areas," said Oren Koules, owner and governor of the Lightning, in a news release. "We continue to be very bullish about our future, excited for the organization and for our fans as we move forward. We hope these price structures, along with the cornerstones we have in place for our future growth on the ice, energize our fans for next season."

Also, the team will allow an eight-month payment plan.
