Just last year I would look at the east and west and think damn....

Tier 1:
Boston (east)
Lakers (west)
New Orleanes (west)
San Antonio (west)
Utah (west)
Houston (west)

Tier 2:
Detroit (east)
Orlando (east)
Cleveland (east)
Phx (west)
Dallas (west)
Denver (west)
GSW (west)

boston took it down, but that was really the only chance for an east team taking it....

today I look at the east with:

Cleveland
Boston
Orlando

and the west with:

Lakers

San antonio when healthy may be in the mix too....but teams like houston, new orleanes, utah, dallas can only seem to win at home

West is still better overall in my opinion with not only LA but Utah, San Antonio, New Orleans, Dallas, and Portland.....

lol....why is this the worst poll ever?

are you implying one side is clearly more dominant or is this just an uninteresting topic? if so, why even respond.....and I do agree with the 85 responses...but mofome is not a robot.

FWIW, I find it odd because I used to think that the west was clearly too much for the east....the east had detroit and that was all they had.....the west had +.500 teams missing the playoffs!

I look at the teams today....the best teams are in the east....the lakers were the main west team but I don't seem very impressed with their play in recent weeks.

Spurs pickup of Drew Gooden is huge, imho

This moves them from the #4 Defense (93.3) right into the tier with Cle and Bos (90.3 and 92.6)

Meanwhile, Denver has had persistent challenges keeping the same team on floor for extended stretches. But when they do have their core intact, they've finally made the move to a Final Eight

Very close for the top four East and the Top4 West - which btw I view as SAN/LAK/DEN and yes, PHX

The East is now stronger especially at the top three.

Lakers are going to win the West.

Cleveland and Boston co-favorites in East with Orlando just a smidgeon behind. The #1 seed in the East will avoid a deadly 2 vs 3 seed semi final series, so every game for Cleveland and Boston from here on out is key.

Cavs at Celtics highlights a big card tonight.

Eastern Conference Standings as of right now:

1. Cleveland --
2. Boston 1.0
3. Orlando 4.0
4. Atlanta 14.5
5. Miami 16.0
6. Detroit 17.5
7. Philadelphia 18.5

Western Conference Standing as of right now:

1. LA Lakers --
2. San Antonio 8.5
3. Denver 9.5
4. New Orleans 10.5
5. Houston 10.5
6. Utah 11.0
7. Portland 11.0
8. Dallas 12.5

Orlando winning it all would not surprise me.

However, I'm pulling for the Celtics to hang another banner and distance themselves from the Fakers............
