Let's just say that I was stupid enough to believe that Citi at $16 a share was a good buy.

Sorry man.........

I thought Bank of America was a decent buy at 20, glad I didn't go long with that.

Bought a lot of BOA at $4.77. Bought some JPMorganChase too. My whole thought process is that one of these banks is gonna come out of this mess very very strong.

I inherited about 700,000 in municipal bonds and muni bond funds. 69,000 of that amount had some sort of insurance on it that had to pay me face value if the bonds were below face value when my Mom died.

I might have gotten this money at just the right time because when I liquidate these bonds, the stock market just might be right for making a large investment.

Is there actually a bad time to inherit 700 grand of anything? :dancefool

Yes, through inheritance taxes, one could actually lose money if the asset they inherited goes down 90% or more........which could happen in this depression.

.......and yes, we are in a DEPRESSION, not a RECESSION.

I was at a local mall yesterday in the Twin Cities..packed, people buying shopping, coffee shops and food courts were full....this is not a depression, in the depression people recycled everything, did without as they had no option, here we still drink bottled water! its like the recession we had in the early 80's not worse.

Maybe if they live in Iowa, but most states do not have inheritance taxes. Estate taxes, on the other hand, can be valued as of 6 months after death if it helps....plenty of time to liquidate whatever is inherited and move into cash.

It's worse than early 80's, but it's not 30's depression-style yet and I highly doubt it gets there.

These stocks are discounted by 50% or more, in the case of Apple, they were around $165 last spring. The consumer goods companys are blue chip and wally World peddles all of those companies goods.

If a man can weather the next few years with some ups and downs these companies will pay off. P&G is looking to sell of it's phamacutical biz and is currently looking for takers- will generate revenue to focus and grow core business.
