Free-agent slugger Manny Ramirez reportedly has agreed to a two-year, $45 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. ESPN, without citing a specific source, reported the signing Tuesday night. There were no other details. The years and dollars are the same as what the Dodgers have been offering throughout their months of negotiations with Ramirez.

ORLANDO, Florida -- Manny Ramirez and the Los Angeles Dodgers finally reached common ground in their negotiations, according to a source close to the talks.

After multiple failed attempts, Ramirez and the Dodgers agreed to a two-year, $45 million deal on Tuesday.

Agent Scott Boras didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

The Dodgers announced last week that Boras had declined the team's fourth offer to the star outfielder -- a one-year, $25 million contract with a $20 million player option for 2010.

The outfielder is expected to travel to Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Ramirez would then report to the Dodgers' spring training camp in Arizona.

Agent Scott Boras has denied that any Manny Ramirez deal is in place with the Dodgers, and ESPN has retracted their initial report.

Sort of. Enrique Rojas, who previously said it was agreed to, is now reporting that the two sides have "finally reached some common ground in their negotiations." That's ESPN speak for "we blew it, but we're going to do our best not to admit it."

Are the Dodgers the only ones that can't see the near future? Manny gets his money for two years and in no time is moping around talking about a lack of respect not getting his five to seven years instead. He shows up out of shape, pulls a hamstring, sits out games but is found in the LA nightclubs partying it up and becomes the distraction in the clubhouse. The only difference between this experience and Boston is 3,000 miles. Meanwhile, Boras counts his money. LA, have fun with that!
