You guys can dog me if ya want but if anyone has any good advice I'd appreciate it.

I'm trying to get to where I only drink on the weekends and maybe one week day after drinking for nearly every day of the calendar year this last month but it's so freaking boring in the afternoons and evenings that lots of times I just drink for something to do.

For those that don't know, I work online and like to post on here and workout but since I don't work that many hours as a writer (I type like 110 words a minute so I get things done fast) I have tons of free time.

I like to watch movies but I've seen so many I'm running out of quality titles. Pretty much the same with TV. I work out in the earlier part of the day which is usually 2-3PM or so then come home and work for a little bit and dink around but once 7PM rolls around I'm bored out of my mind and start drinking. I play a little XBox but can only handle so much in a row.

Anyone got any good advice on things to do later in the night that will keep my time? Everything is pretty much closed except the bars so I need a hobby or something. One roommate works nights and the other drinks just as much as me so they aren't really helpful. Probably going to pick up some jiu jitsu classes at some point but again, that's going to be during the day and won't help with my evening boredom.

Somebody hook me up with advice.

Not a bad idea at all. Getting drunk and losing all the money I made sober was actually the reason I gave up poker in the first place. :103631605

I'll tell you what. I've dabbled in reading. It is one of the best things a person can do with their time. I go in spurts, and will read a book every three days for a month, then not read another one for 4 months.

Just go to the library or Barnes and Noble. I once sat in a Barnes and Noble all day and read a book without buying it. Reading is good stuff.

I do love reading but after getting Angels and Demons I've gotten some duds and kind of went away from it. That was a perfect book for me since I'm a history buff but tend to get bored lately by non-fiction so it was a nice change of pace to have a fictional story that's thick on learning.

Got any reccomendations on books?

Not sure what Cinnabon is and I'm not in college anymore so studying might not work so hot...

Or Borders.
They really don't give a crap as long as you buy a coffee every couple of hours.

Smart Money, Reasonable Doubt, The Man with $100,000 Breasts, Lute Olson autobiography, Busting Vegas, Breaking Vegas. I enjoyed all of them, and most are about gambling.

Torre's new book is a quick and interesting read.
Even if you don't like the Yankees.

You said you liked to workout, maybe join a softball league. Or ride the trails on a bike or something. Since you work online and on a computer all day, the two ideas I have mentioned should be a nice way to change things up.

1} Jerk off to porn.

2} Check out some escort forums.

3} Study, research & plan for a trip to Bangkok or Pattaya.

4} Take up serious sports gambling as a hobby or PT income.

5} Relax, rest, & free your mind while listening to music.

6} Have seen all the good movies? How about porn shop flicks?
There are hundreds of them. This could be consider educational.
And done with the mute button on with #5. BTW I like listening to
music while watching {not listening to} NHL, NBA or NFL games,
which relates to #4.

I agree book stores are great places to kill time. Not only are there million of books to choose from and read free of chage, but you also see a fair amount of good-looking women there that are a little more respectable than the floosies you encounter in the bars.

Looking back on my dating career (now married), I regret that I wasted so much time trying to hook up in bars and not enough chasing the more respectable variety. All you need in the bookstore is start up with some clumsy small talk and then offer to buy her a latte.

The only negative about Barnes and Noble is they no longer allow reading materials in the bathroom stalls. Life just doesn't get much better than kicking back in one of their stalls with a glossy new book in your lap. The sign says none are allowed, and I've been to scared to test the system, as it looks like some kind of alarm if rigged up to catch you if you try to smuggle some books in.

Kind of like the time I took an expensive book on French Art into the bathroom at Brentano's. I find the art relaxing, so it's a great book to use in the bathroom. Anyway, after I was finished I tried returning the book to the shelf but the worker caught me. They forced me to buy the book! I tried returning it at a different time when there would be different employees present but somehow the book was flagged in their system and I couldn't return it!

I tried selling it to me friend Elaine, but after she found out it was in the bathroom with me she wouldnt have any of it. I then tried exchanging it at a charity but they noticed the flagging as well.

Finally, I decided to try stealing another book from Brentanos in order to return THAT one so I would be able to get some of my money back but my idiot friend Jerry ratted me out!

Well done George.
