I got to thinking that maybe it is no coincidence that partially the reason why this country is in its current recession might have something to do with the DOJ banning internet gambling in the United States. Now obviously the government were never able to tax offshore gambling they did bring in a certain income into the U.S. via wiring fees, credit card interest and the luxury items that gamblers consumed with their winnings.
I figure the climate of the economy started to take a downturn in 2006 which was right around the time that the housing market started to fall. I strongly believe if the government would legalize gambling in the U.S. and taxed both the gambler and the book a small percentage it would help us out of our rut. During times like these the consumption of alcohol and gambling are always at a rise. Just like during the Great Depression what generated the most money was the running of numbers and booze during prohibition.
I say it is time to legalize weed and legalize gambling.
