Donte Stallworth Kills Pedestrian with car

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica] MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth hit and killed a pedestrian with his Bentley on Saturday morning on a busy causeway linking Miami and Miami Beach, police said.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica] [/FONT][FONT=Arial, Helvetica] Stallworth was headed toward the beach when he hit a 49-year-old man around 7 a.m., said Miami Beach police spokesman Juan Sanchez. The unidentified pedestrian was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. He was near a crosswalk but it's not clear if he was crossing legally.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica] [/FONT][FONT=Arial, Helvetica] Stallworth was cooperating and no charges have been filed, Sanchez said. Officers drew his blood to test for drugs or alcohol, which is routine, but police said it was too early to tell if Stallworth was impaired or violating traffic laws. Police would not say where he was coming from or where he was headed.

I thought that might be the only thing in his favor (meaning he wasn't drunk), but he may have been staying on the beach and could be coming back from an after hours party.

if he has drugs in his system or was drunk yea it's all on him, but we won't know until more info is released. these guys though make it seem like this only happens with athletes involved. people kill pedestrians every day. not really a athlete only problem, more of a societal problem and people not paying attention, both driver and pedestrian.

That is why politicians refuse to create harsher penalties for drunk driving and intoxication manslaughter. They don't won't to face 20 years if they kill somebody themselves.

The same reason the Browns don't have a GM. Savage was too stupid to know what was going on.

Not saying this is true at all, but sometimes I think the Player, Agent and GM get together and say look, Dante is worth about $16M over 4 or 5 years. I know Lerner will sign off for $20M more, how about we split the money and screw the owner.

Seriously, how else can explain a #3 receiver getting $35M?

Will be curious to see the circumstances behind this incident.

I remember about 20+ years ago I damn near ran over a pedestrian at night, started to make a right turn and some jogger was out there all dressed in black about halfway across the crosswalk. About all he needed was a ski mask and some eyeblack to be invisible. Unlit area, if I'd have been driving with my headlights off neither one of us would have known what just happened.

Stallworth was probably headed home as he owns 3 condos on the beach. For his sake I hope he wasn't coming from a club. At 7:00 am down here it's still pitch black out since DST kicked the clocks ahead, so it wasn't a daylight accident. Just by the looks of the accident seen, initially I'd put this on the pedestrian. Stallworth was in his lane and the guy was in the road!!! This isn't a small side street, it's a main causeway where cars are clipping along at 50 mph.

I've always thought it crazy that pedestrians and bikers are allowed on 395. It's a highway where people are often doing 80. I think speed limit is 55. I recall at least 3 times where I almost hit someone on that road 100% sober, driving to morning rounds. It's not well lit, its over water so everything reflects, and the city of Miami and Miami beach have all sorts of neon lights so there is a ton of glare.

Anyone walking or biking on that road is lucky to make it to the other side in my opinion.

I'd always bike up on the normal street that crosses the islands cause no way am I biking on a dark highway!
