Ok guys here is the deal....

About 5 years ago, I got hooked on buying autographed shit. I bought about 200k worth of jerseys and helmets. When we got busted, the feds took almost all of it and sold it off on a website. (bid4assets) I ended up getting some it back through a friend. Now fast forward to present time and I have decided to sell off some of what I have for two reasons; First is that I need the cash and the second is that I am moving anyways and I really have no real place to display them all. I am going to sell the ones I have duplicates of and also, some I really never wanted in the first place, but had to buy them back in the "lot" that they put together. Here is what I have decided to get rid of:

Pete Rose – Reds
Cal Ripken Jr - Orioles
Mike Schmidt – Phillies
Nolan Ryan – Mets
Nolan Ryan – Astros
1986 World Champions Mets Signed by all players
Tony Gwynn – Padres
Sammy Sosa – Cubs ( two of them)

I bought them all from a place in Plano, TX and they are all framed up' Here is the store I bought them from.

My question is this, if you were wanting to sell this stuff where would you go?

Where is this place in Plano?

Contact Leyland's Auction House in NYC. Josh Leyland

Also, I am not saying your stuff is fake, but a lot of stuff sold at places like this are fake.

I was in Vegas at a place (Field of Dreams or some BS) and this guy I was with asked them where they did get this autographed Kobe Jersey or Ball (don't remember) they said they had private signing with Kobe. The guy was like, "NO you didn't", the guy at the store was like, yes, we did. The guy with me guys no your stuff is fake, I am Kobe Bryant's marketing agent, we never did a private signing with you guys."

He was telling me the majority of stuff in places like that are fake.

It's estimated that 85% of the stuff is fake. If the stuff isn't from a name like Steiner or authenticated by PSA-DNA or something like that, you are only going to get a fraction of what its worth unfortunately.

I know that is going to be the big problem as to people believing they are legit. To be honest they could very well be fake. I bought them all from this place and the majority of them are upperdeck authenticated, but still who really knows I guess. The place is still in business that I bought it ll from, so I guess that is good.

I have never been to the store itself, so I do not know anything other than the address that they have on the website.

CPH- thanks man, I will be around all night and tomorrow.

Not what I thought he would say but a short C&P answer from him..

his best bet would be ebay or a store in the area

autographed stuff is hard to unload by itself unless it is authenticated

he should approach the place he bought it from and try to sell it back at a discount maybe

or just put it on ebay.

-sorry ace, but that is all he really said

I would try to get the stuff that you think is high dollar authenticated. Its worth the process if you possibly have some big ticket items.

If you sell it without aunthentication...you aren't going to get shit for it.

You can look on ebay at the difference between the aunthenticate stuff and the same that isn't.

Use JSA or PSA it will be the only wya to get much if your selling on EBay. Unless the stuff is Authenticated by Mounted Memories, Tri star, Steiner or Upperdeck then don't worry about it.

I bought a baseball signed by Mickey Mantle in around 1992 for about $100. The ball was bought through Upperdeck and has a hologram along with a certificate of authenticity.

I wonder what it's worth?

I should just keep it for my 5 year old son and see what the value is when he's older.

It will be worth about two or three bucks after he takes it out to show his friends and they bash it around the sandlot for an hour.

He doesn't even know the ball exists. I was thinking maybe when he's an adult, not now. I'm not sure how much more in value the ball would be worth in say 25 years.

Collectibles are usually only worth what someone is willing to give you...

I believe HBO's Real sports with Bryant Gumbel did a piece on just this subject a few years back. I believe they concluded that....like someone else noted...that 80-90% of all that stuff is fake. One of the biggest scamming business out there.

The Upperdeck ball is legot and worth about 1k right now maybe a little less. Upperdeck balls sell for 20-30% more than a authenticated ball by any other company and are very easy to sell to collectors or dealers. Tons of Mantle stuff out in the market alot of it is real but there are a ton of fakes too. He signed more stuff than most players of his error. Other Robin Roberts that is that guy is a signing machine. Only person who signs more is Pete Rose he signs ball 8 hours a day 7 day a week.
