I think that you need to gauge how the prospects and pitchers are rounding into form so some of their numbers are meaningful. Proven players work at their own pace and I believe those stats are meaningless.

Hey boss, ST stats for a team are not anything super important, as players who aren't going to be starting will get the start in ST games, and pitchers aren't going to throw all out with the risk of getting put on the DL and possibly the minor league roster, before the season ever starts.

Some stuff to follow in ST that is beneficial to us is how guys are recovering from injuries and how different scenarios could possibly hurt a player. Take for example Francisco Rodriguez. The question everyone is asking right now is whether or not he will be effected in the regular season because of pitching in the World Baseball Classic. But like we saw on Mrch 26th, in his first outing since returning from the WBC, he needed only 10 pitches for a perfect first inning with one strikeout Wednesday.

So ST stats have their ups and downs. Take from them what you can and leave the rest.
