Coins are back at NJ's oldest casino
By WAYNE PARRY – 45 minutes ago
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — An Atlantic City casino is bringing back coin slot machines that make the clacking, jingling sounds that once filled all of the city's casinos.
Resorts Atlantic City had replaced its slot machines that make noise as coins drop into their tray with quieter ones that give gamblers paper tickets that say how much they've won.
The casino is going against the grain as part of a retro promotion. About 90 percent of the slot machines in North America don't accept or pay out in coins.
Jeannette Snell of Union says the old-style games make her feel she's playing a true slot machine. She also liked the sound of 47 dollar-coins clacking into her tray.
Resorts has eight of the coin machines, but will add more if they catch on.
