Well the original was kind of meant to be a tear jerker, this one was meant to be funny. It got me to laugh first time I saw it also.

The original with Joe Greene is one of the top ten super bowl commercials ever. This Coke Zero commercial is just a satirical mimic of the famous original not an attempt to replace it as a genuine classic. Troy ripping the Coke exec's shirt off and tossing it to the kid is imo comical, thats all.

I'm sure there are more than not that watch this and say WTF.

And if some one explains to them it is a satire of the Mean Joe Green commercial they say who's mean Joe Green.

THat's exactly what happened to me. The first time I saw it, I was at work, and I said out loud, "Well, it's not exactly Mean Joe Greene."
And the others at the table were all younger, and were like, "who's Mean Joe Greene?"
