2009 Season Outlook
Farnsworth's problem isn't strikeouts, though hes a far cry from his 10.6 K/9 of five years ago. Rather his penchant for giving up the big blast, surrendering a home run about every four outings in 2008, was his primary bugaboo. If he can manage to corral that minor flaw, he'll be able to rack up the holds and leave Joakim Soria in a far better position to lead the league in saves. If not, then the Royals just wasted a good $9.25 million over the next two years.

We have some misguided anger here.
It isn't Farnsworth's fault that he sucks. It is Trey fucking Hillman's job to know who sucks and who doesn't. Gil Meche doesn't suck, and he was under 100 pitches.
I guarantee if you trot Meche out there in the 8th, Thome doesn't get to bat until the 9th, and it damn sure wouldn't have been with 2 guys on base. And it would have been against Soria.
