I have some time this morning to explain a little more about what money management (MM) system I'm using here. First, yes, it is a type of martingale system so let's get that across and over with. :103631605

I make a range of bets from 0.20 units to as much as 10 units as necessary (quite frankly, I can't even remember the last time I even bet more than 8 units, but it has happened in the past so better to put this in.) I decided to make 8 Tiers... to try to provide a similar picture you would see when tailing a Rx handicapper with their 1-5 units structure (many) or 1-7 units structure (like VenomousSanction and carolinakid). Why 8 Tiers? Two reasons: a.) a tribute to Cal Ripken Jr, and b) my files from the last 2 years do show a long pattern of "about 8" discrete groups of bet amounts. The only thing I recently decided was which "to win" amounts to put in which Tier.

As in the past years, I continue to modify the system and have new changes and descriptions, but I'll not bother with them right now. More importantly, the basics: S1 = Series 1, S2 = Series 2, and so forth. Each Series will go to at least both A & B. About 1/3 of the time, a Series will go to C. Each win would finish the current letter in the Series. So about 2/3 of the time, when I attempt and win the B play, I have won 1 unit for the Series and can close that Series.

The first play for A will always be 80% of the unit's goal (in this case, for the goal of 1 unit, my bet amount "to win" would be to win 0.8 units). The formula I use to determine what bet amounts "to win" for each play has changed somewhat from previous years, as this showed great promise the last few months of 2008 and early 2009.

In the mid to long term, like this entire MLB season, I hope to show that I will have played a mjaority of games Tiers 2 through 4, winning more at the higher Tiers, just like a Rx handicapper hope to achieve!

I'm re-posting my last 2 days of results to show what Series I had these plays in.

Yes, my head is always busy.
My best years were 2005-2007 because I was single and living at parents' home so I had a large bankroll. I became more serious with the MM system(s) after I went through a bad phase where I was just like many gamblers... at one book with bonuses, I put in 5K and built it to 17K then yes lost it all (really only -5K net).

In 2006 and 2007, I used the MM system with great success with some struggles (some long losing streaks that took some series like weeks just to close). Though as I got hitched, moved into a new home with my then-gf-now-wife & her child, I took a lot of my gambling BR out last year in 2008. With a very small BR in 2008, I had a break-even year (had great and bad moments with live betting at Matchbook). In 2009, I still have a small bankroll, but definitely building the last few months.

So I'm hoping for a great 2009!

A (lucky) win with WAS/FLA Over 9 this afternoon.

I'll have the evening plays by 7pm EDT (am going home from work now).

Early evening plays:

S3 (2B,1A): CIN -110; risked 0.36u to win 0.33u
S4 (2B,1A): TOR -128; risked 0.50u to win 0.39u
S5 (1B,3A): TB/BOS Under 8.5 -108; risked 0.96u to win 0.89u
S6 (1B,1A): BAL +146; risked 0.14u to win 0.20u

Yeah, I'm strong on a pitching game between TB/BOS. Kazmir and Lester will give up some runs but not enough to bust the Under.

long losing streaks happen alot in baseball. gl
Long losing streaks happen in any sport, especially on sports with spreads. In sports with ML, the challenge is to make sure that you win enough bets to cover the winning percentage necessary to break even (i.e. you can't win money if you go 6-4 playing all -150 ML plays). In a MM system, this is still important even though I can have a lower winning percentage and still win the goal.

ACE-ACE has not lost 7 in a row, and I hope to be in the same boat by not having one series losing 7 straight, either. 7 straight losses would challenge my system to the extreme, yep.
