Since my high school days (Just 6 years ago if your counting) I've wondered why does coverage for the masters start so late (4pm est).If this major is such a big deal then why not start coverage around noonish? I'm here at my restaurant with a couple buddies watching Lord of the Rings on our plasma's instead of the Masters. Is there another channel or any internet coverage that I don't know about?

The last thing I want to do is go on yahoo sports or ESPN to see the Tiger has already played the front 9 and we still have over 2 hours for tv coverage.
Whats next? ESPN asks for a bail out?

Someone had mentioned yesterday, that the short coverage builds the mystique.

Missed it (goes without saying) and mystique is non existent with the advent of the internet.

Also the Golf Channel (which I now have on) has a pregame show (how silly is that) that gives us updates on the developments (pathetic).

VOR...I asked the same question yesterday. The main problem is you still have a bunch of old farts running Augusta. And they don't realize that mystique doesn't exist anymore. That's why we now get full all day coverage for the U.S. Open, PGA and even the British Open, which as old as it is has much more tradition than the Masters does. It seems ridiculous to have to miss Tiger's early round this morning because somebody thinks less of a good thing is best. That's an old wives tale that doesn't exist when it comes to television.

The Masters has always done what it wants to do and nobody has the balls to tell them otherwise.

GS: Surprised that Disney (ESPN) has not given them an offer they can't refuse.

WNO: link please

texasfan: I give it 4 more years tops, no way does a major network allow this to go on.

I can't even get their coverage online.

This is really unbelievable stuff. I don't understand this at all. Surely there is a ton of money to be had here, somebody explain this to me.

I guess these guys are filthy rich and don't need the money.

rich, government, tyrants, planners, etc. gotta love 'em. :drink:
