I believe each league has a different rule, but I don't know what it is. I think there are some local ordinances that govern a "curfew" in some ballparks.

The American League cannot start a new inning after 12:59am local time.

The National League has no curfew...and thus a couple times a year they crank one into the super wee hours.

curious to know if they break that 12:59 local time if the team is not coming back for the year.

Good point and I believe you correctly note that the curfew is then waived.

Although in some google searches, I'm seeing some references to "...the American League used to have a curfew..."

Not interersted enough to try and chase this down precisely for 2009

I'm pretty sure the curfew rules for AL never applied during post season.
