I knew it was coming as we have been growing apart the last 5 years or so. I am still kind of shocked and the kids are taking it very hard. The one good thing is we hammered out an agreement ourselves so at least no lawyers are involved. She's on vacation with my son this week and then she is moving in with her Mom. She is letting me have the house and I will be buying her out. Never thought it would happen to us but indeed it did and I am having a very hard time excepting it. There is no on else and she just decided she would be happier by herself. She said I deserve better and hopes I find someone that will make me happy. :>(
sorry to hear....but at least it sounds like your going to be able to handle it like adults...doesnt sound like she is being unreasonable.....willing to move and let you have the house, and its fair to buy her out for 1/2 equity.....also that she wants you to find someone to make you happy.....
its sad the marriage had to end, but from what i read, it sure sounds alot better most when it finally comes...just handle it with class and it will all work out...hopefully you will both find someone who makes you even happier, and you have some great memories, and kids, that no one can take away

I will agree that this is 100% true nowadays.
(But not saying it is true in harrington's case)
I did my divorce through mediation and avoided the lawyers. It wasn't easy but we both had a new found respect for each other afterward.
I don't know your specific situation but if you want it to work you can make it happen.
Counseling is a must, as a man I know it's tough to go that first time but it will allow both of you an independent ear to listen to your grievances and discover where the communication breakdown lies. And regardless of if it helps the two of you it will be helpful to yourself and make it an easier transition for the kids.

My wife and I were together seventeen years and she came with the same line earlier this year. I thought she was screwing around and she didn't want to leave until I found the guy she was with left his wife. It was hard but like you my wife just wanted out so I kept the house, gave her what was fair and moved on. Best move I ever made. Why be with someone who doesn't want to be with you? I know my wife and her new boyfriend will be cheating on each other like they did with me and his wife in a few years. Snakes deserve each other. Man, look at every event like this as a new opportunity. I am going out to Vegas next weekend with some buds and going to have a blast. Good luck in your venture!
